Yesterday I drove the motorhome 65 miles from Murphys to Manteca, California where the motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Turtle Beach RV Resort. I’m scheduled to depart here October 8th.

Today’s Subject…Murphys to Manteca, California…

As much as I enjoy being with Mary…it’s time for me to head south and my mysterious destination. I’ll pause here for a few days while I’ll await the temperatures to continue to cool down a bit at that location. That destination is 505 miles distant

Central America Trip #87

The motorhome is parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. I’m planning to depart here tomorrow. While here I’m performing routine maintenance on both vehicles.

Today… A trip down memory lane!

2004 Central America trip…

This trip ended up being 343 days and 16,000+ miles through the back-country of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. 11 rigs started the trip, within a week we broke into three smaller groups for ease of traveling. Only myself and one other rig went the full, pre-planned route. All the others dropped out for various reasons. All returned safely to the United States. I’m planning to show these photos, more or less, 10 a day, whenever I’m not doing something else deserving a blog entry. FINALLY, it must be remembered these photos are prior to my switching to digital in 2006. The films were developed during our trip and the lack of quality control sometimes is plainly evident.

Today…Mexico (north-bound) 12…

The motorhome is in Oaxaca, awaiting a new engine. I had no idea that it would take two months. In the meantime we explore Oaxaca, one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico. In our two months there…we got to know it well…

We took a one-half hour bus ride to the unique ruins Monte Alban. Rather then being Mayan, these ruins are of the Zapotec Indian culture. Founded around 500 AD, it flourished until about 750 AD, and had about 25,000 inhabitants. It’s situated atop a mountain and we enjoyed a beautiful 360 degree view of the City of Oaxaca and the valleys below…

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 113 miles from Nicolaus to Murphys, California. I’m now at Mary’s home and am scheduled to depart September 29th. While here, I’ll do routine maintenance to both vehicles.

In a number of past blog posting, I have indicated that I watch YouTube videos while eating my breakfast. I do so because I am intrigued by the vastness of the subjects. Today’s posting is an example…

Have you ever wondered about where and how  rubber tires come from? No, neither have I. As a life-long traveler I’ve logged many a thousands of miles upon rubber tires. Hence, I found the below video most interesting. Can I do anything about it short of never buying a rubber tire again? Nope, not in today’s life style. Rubber tires make the world go around… excuse the pun!  🙂

Nonetheless, I found the below video most interesting It runs 28:25 minutes….

I hope you enjoyed the video!

Forecast for today is sunny and 79 degrees. To danged hot!

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 113 miles from Murphys to Nicolaus, California.

After some shopping at Costco for gas and groceries, I stopped to have the motorhome washed…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

My normal stop is at the 49er Truck Stop which has two wash bays. With several vehicles in front of me meant at least a three-hour wait, so I passed. I’ll find another place further down the road to get the motorhome washed…

The motorhome is parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. I’ll depart here later this morning.

I love fresh air. Sleeping at night while here at Mary’s, I leave the windows open and the shades up. It’s such a neat setting with a bright moon…

Up at 2 AM, Mary’s yard was full of a beautiful moon glow. In the following three photos, I set the camera on night scene, then on a stable footing. Once again, not bad photos considering all.

Some Spring Cleaning…

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. I’ll depart here tomorrow morning.

Normally my visits with Mary in April and November run about 14-17 days. Because of her current medical situation she has asked my to limit my visit this time.

Also normally I do my spring cleaning at Mary’s house because it’s so convenient to do so. Because of my limited stay this time I got my Bronco thoroughly serviced and did the heavy-duty and unusually inconvenient cleaning done. Defrosted freezer, cleaned refrigerator and hand-scrubbed the linoleum floor.

In addition Mary took a couple of photos of me scrubbing the roof of the motorhome. When I leave tomorrow, I’ll make my usual stop at the 49er Truck Stop Truck/RV Wash.. They used to manually scrub the roof but no longer provide that service, Insurance, OSHA regs, ???

It had been several years and the roof was getting quite dirty. Here are Mary’s photos…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

It was sunny and 81 degrees while I was up there…really hot! I’m no longer used to working that hard. It’s not as clean as new, but at least it looks somewhat better for my efforts…

I’ll continue my spring cleaning at my next destination of Thousand Trails RV Resort in Nicolaus, California.

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Forecast for today is mostly sunny and 69 degrees.
