Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,500+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at American Legion Post #19 in Yuma, Arizona.
Two days ago (Saturday), my friend Colorado and I went to the Yuma Proving Ground (about 25 miles north of Yuma) to view their 75th Anniversary display.
For the first time I decided to take the photos with my new smart phone. I’m a day late in reporting this activity because I had one heck of a time trying to figure out how to download the photos to my laptop computer on which I write my blog postings. The phone was easier to haul around in its belt holster than my larger and bulkier Sony camera.
This is a really large facility. To read all about the Yuma Proving Ground, you should click this link…

Another thing I need to explain is that in addition to the regular about 95,000 Yuma population, at this time of the year there about another estimated 80,000 snowbirds, of which I am one. 🙂 And based on my Saturday experience, I’m guessing about one-half of Yuma attended…read on…
Most all of these folks got there on the one and only road. I met my friend Colorado at VFW Post #8242 about 12 miles north of Yuma and from there we drove on in my Bronco. From the VFW Post to the entrance gate of Yuma Proving Ground is 13 miles which took us 1.5 hours!!!!
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
This first photo is the view as soon as you leave US Highway 59. The post gate is 6 miles away from here…
And it was SLOW GOING…
1.5 hours after leaving the VFW Post we turn into YPG…
After the long drive, first thing was a pit stop. My friend Colorado (only one year older than myself) needs a walker for longer walks…
It was a cloudless sunny day and 82 degrees warm. Shade is at a premium here…
The following photos show some of the things we saw…
Now you know where some of your tax dollars are being spent.
When we left if mid-afternoon, the ride back to the VFW Post was only 20 minutes as opposed to the 1.5 hours getting there. All in all, an enjoyable day despite the hot sunshine. 🙂
I hope you enjoyed the photos…
Forecast for today is sunny and 82 degrees.
Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!
