A Cover For a Camera…

The motorhome is currently parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. My current departure date is scheduled for December 1st. Three days and counting!

Some RV’s come with a rear-view video camera system..ours did not. When towing a vehicle behind a motorhome it is not visible to the driver as the only way to see towards the rear are the passenger and driver side mirrors. A camera is also handy when backing into a camping spot. The video camera gives a nice view of what’s going on back there!

We bought the motorhome in 2009 and shortly thereafter I installed an after-market rear-view camera system which consists of a 7″ LCD screen in the in the driver’s area…

And a rear-mounted video camera which wirelessly transmits the video signal to the monitor in the drivers compartment…

The camera is sold as being “waterproof”…however it is not. After three replacement cameras in a period of five years the vendor refused to further backup his product so this time when I replaced it, I installed a Rubbermaid storage container as a cover several months ago and it’s working just fine for keeping the camera protected from the elements. I also have covered my new cover with the same sealant I use on the roof seams. Prior to installing this camera I also “waterproofed” it myself by gooping it thoroughly with rubber silicone wherever moisture might enter…

While not terribly pretty, the cover appears to be getting the job done. Hopefully this camera being well-protected from the weather elements will last for several years and maybe…never have to be replaced again!

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

The cataract surgery of my right eye was conducted on October 9th and my left eye on November 6th. Both eyes are now at 20/20. The only remaining item left (other than eye drops until early December) is a visit to the optometrist to be fitted for reading glasses at the VA Hospital in Livermore, California was scheduled for November 25th. I made a last-minute phone call and changed my appointment to December 2nd.

Yesterday was a mostly sunny day and 69 degrees. Forecast for today is mostly cloudy with a few showers and 52 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Enjoying 65-75 degree temperatures with low humidity most of the year is a primary joy in the RVing lifestyle!
