Lubbock, Texas Day 2 (GA289)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,500+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Palm desert, California. I’m scheduled to depart here March 15th.

Mary remains at home in California tending to medical issues.

The motorhome is still parked at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Airee #4271. I expect to be here for a few more days.

Yesterday I drove the about 11 miles to the Silent Wings Museum…where they present the story of the World War II Glider Program. If you are unfamiliar with the role gliders played in World War II, this informational link will bring you up to speed…

I spent an enjoyable 1.5 hours there. Besides the fully restored glider, the was a 15 minute video and lots of World War II memorabilia.

There were almost 14,000 of the gliders built by 16 different companies. Ford Motor Company built the largest amount…almost 5,000 of them. Ford was the lowest bidder at just under $16,000. That figure adjusted for inflation from 1942 would be about $225,000 today.

Here are some photos that I took…
