It’s Been A Long Time Since…

I have had a professional haircut for only $5. Recently I walked in to Don’s Barber Shop on Main Street in Monroe, Washington. His normal price is $8, but for retirees it’s only $5! I’m pleased to report it was a good haircut. As a full-time RVer for the last 16 years, I’ve had my haircut by many different barbers…I, in truth, cannot say that all of them were great.

In addition to the price, there was something else unusual about Don’s Barber Shop. Most barbers seeing an unfamiliar face tend to be very chatty… who are you…where are you from…etc…?

Not at Don”s….here is our entire dialogue…

He: Next!

Me: Medium…not too long,,,not short.

He: Okay.

When finished…

He: Okay?

Me: Yup

Me: How much do I owe you?

He: Five.

Me: Here you are (handing him the money).

He: Thanks.

So at Don’s Barber Shop for $5 one gets a good haircut and five words of dialogue.

For me…another unusual experience!

I get the feeling he might have been a barber in the military…they don’t much either. Next time I go back…I’m going to try an engage him in a discussion. It will be fun to see if I can double the word production to ten words!  🙂
