Last night Mary and I completed watching the six-night, two hour series entitled “National Parks – America’s Greatest Idea” filmed by Ken Burns and shown on PBS. It presented the history of our National Park system beginning in the mid 1800’s to current time. It was very interesting and informative. My only complaint…it showed from 8:00 to 10:00 PM…somewhat past my usual bedtime of between 8:00 to 9:00 PM. FYI…Mary and I are both early risers…frequently at 5:00 AM and rarely after 6:00 AM.

While we haven’t done a lot of RVing this year (By my standards) (Due to Mary’s shoulder surgery and prior obligations), we have big plans for next year, expecting to be on the road most of the entire year which includes a summer trip back to New England to visit my family and friends. I’m sure a number of National Parks will also be a part of our agenda as Mary and I are both lovers of beautiful scenery and history.
We were so moved by this TV series, it prompted us yesterday to make reservations at Thousand Trails RV Resort right outside of the gate to Yosemite National Park only about 100 miles form Mary’s home. We arrive there next Wednesday. I was last there in 2001.
If you missed this National Park series you might check with your local PBS Station to see if they are scheduling a re-run or you can buy it on Amazon.
