Season’s Greetings!

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 24th year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I could be here as long as March 4th, 2019.

I expect to be in this area a couple of months hiding out from the cold, wet weather. Average temperatures in January are high 69.6, low 47.6. In February, high 73.8, low 50.1. As nice as Yuma is, I wouldn’t want to be here in August.  🙂

Even though Mary is no longer traveling with me, as long as we remain great friends, we can say…

The Saddest Thing About Growing Older…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in La Conner, Washington. I’ll depart here September 10th..

is losing all your friends.

Two days ago, I found out my good friend Colorado passed away about two weeks ago. He was found by a neighbor sitting in his chair alongside his motorhome. I spoke with him by phone only about a month ago and he mentioned no particular problems.

Although I had only known him two years, he had become my primary hang around with buddy in Yuma.

Here’s a link to a blog posting I wrote about him in 2017…

He was 77 years old. Same age as myself. Hmmm…

Rest in peace, amigo! I’ll miss you.  😦

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

Forecast for today is mostly cloudy and 66 degrees.

Hotel San Carlos – Yuma, Arizona

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.

The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres Mobile Home and RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I expect to depart here February 25th.

Once the gems of downtown Yuma, the San Carlos Hotel is now residential apartments for seniors on a limited income. This Art Deco building was built in 1930. The hotel often hosted casts and crews making western movies. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places…

I published the below photos in January, 2015…

I’m Allergic To Yuma, AZ!

No, not the city which I really like because of the great weather, cleanliness, wide streets, easy to find your way around and it’s very RV friendly.

I’m allergic to something in the air. When I returned from my 343 day, 16,000+ mile RV trip through Mexico and Central America on December 9th, 2004, I spent the next three months in Yuma. Even though I had been here in the past, this was the first year that I came down with a real nasty sinus infection. My face got swollen and there was substantial pain below my left eye and my upper left teeth.

Picture
My swollen face during my 2004-05 winter sinus infection.

I went to the VA Hospital and they gave me some tablets and nasal spray that kinda-sorta arrested it. When I returned to Yuma the following winter, I went for my annual dentist visit in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico. The sinus infection was just coming alive again, so he walked with me down to the corner pharmacy and discussed my problem with pharmacist. Between the two of them they decided what medicine I needed. I was given two boxes of pills and told this medicine is not available in the United States.

Picture
The pharmacist told me “this will kill anything you have!”

Since this is the only location where this event happens, I’ve since come to a conclusion as to the cause. Yuma is a very heavy agriculture area with crop-dusting planes. I’m convinced I’m allergic to some of those airborne chemicals.

Shortly thereafter, I was well again.

So, the night before last, my upper left teeth started to ache and I knew what was about to happen. Sure enough about 9:30 AM yesterday morning here comes the pain below the left eye. By 11:00 AM, I had driven the 37 miles to San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico and back to the pharmacy. By 11:45 AM I was back in the United States where I popped the first of the two pills with water in my Bronco II.

As I write this Blog entry the following morning (today) about 18 hours after taking the first pills, I’m noticing the difference and feeling much better. I have only a slight face swelling and the pain of yesterday is somewhat diminished. Hopefully, by jumping on it asap, I’m done messing with the sinus infection for this visit. I expect to depart Yuma on January 3rd.

Getting old is a genuine pain in the face!
