Wheatland Ferry – Oregon

The motorhome is parked at Mary’s second home at Wimer, Oregon. I’m expecting to depart from here October 13th.

I’m expecting to arrive at Mary’s home in central California, October 15th and depart November 30th. While there, I’ll do routine maintenance, minor repairs and major cleaning of the Bronco and motorhome.

Today’s Subject…Wheatland Ferry…

Three days ago, after departing Woodburn, Oregon, I stopped along the Willamette River to take a ride on the Wheatland Ferry. Located about 20 miles north of Salem, it is the oldest operating ferry in Oregon. I left the motorhome and Bronco parked along the eastern shore, took the about two-minute ferry ride to the western shore, visited some friends, then back to the eastern shore.

Here are the photos that I took…

Two days ago, before departing Woodburn, Oregon, I was invited to see a Man Cave…so long as I did not identify the owner or location. Needless to say, it’s owned by someone with a few bucks. It’s his recreation place and opens it to his friends…by invitation only…

Yesterday the Gods Smiled On Me…

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 45 miles from Hillsboro to Woodburn, Oregon.

I’m expecting to arrive at Mary’s home in central California, October 15th and depart November 30th. While there, I’ll do routine maintenance, minor repairs and major cleaning of the Bronco and motorhome.

Yesterday the gods smiled on me. In yesterday’s blog, I was in Hillsboro, Oregon awaiting the Monday morning opening of Bruce Chevrolet to fix my intermittent  electrical situation. I really lucked out. The problem which was resolved in a few minutes. It ended up being a stripped bolt on the negative cable of the engine battery. It created a poor ( but not visible) electrical connection. A new bolt and $56.14 later, I was on my way. I was expecting a lot worse situation.
After a stop at Costco and Camping World to buy some supplies, I ended up at the Eagles Club #3284 in Woodburn, Oregon. I parked in the rear with electrical hookup which was great because I had air-conditioning for a hot 85 degree day.

Another good happening yesterday…

I spent the better part of a most enjoyable two-hour happy hour chatting with Wayne Barrett, Worthy President, and other very friendly eagles members. Wayne really cares about his club and it shows in the environment and atmosphere. In a lot of clubs, I, as a stranger, am sometimes mostly ignored. Not in Wayne’s club… here they are really friendly! If you are an eagle member and passing through the area, they are located at 731 99SE. If you live in the Woodburn area and would like to join the Eagles as a member, contact Wayne at 503-981-3011, cell 503-810-9089. I’ll be coming back to this club!

I hope you enjoyed the photos.
