Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 15 miles from Winterhaven, California to Yuma, Arizona. I’m parked on BLM land about 12 miles north of Yuma, Arizona.
I’m here because my ex-WIN RV Singles group comes here for a two-week Christmas/New Year stay. I left he WIN group after 10 years in 2006. I thought it would be nice to say hello to some of my old friends. Here are some photos of the area. These photos are unusual because of the clouds. Yuma claims to be the sunniest city in the United States and indeed, cloudy days here are very rare…
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
Taken from the roof of my motorhome…a 180 degree panorama…
A more central view. When I belonged to WIN we had about double the current membership and this place would be really crowded…
As always, I like to show a photo of the random view out of the dinette window…
Unfortunately, this location in addition to being somewhat crowded is noisy…being right along U.S. Highway 95 with a very busy…all hours of the day and night railroad directly on the other side of the highway. It also tends to be very dusty. FINALLY…there is a crop dusting plane nearby who flies all night long. He awoke me at 10:28 PM last night and about every 15 minutes takes off directly over my motorhome making sleep very difficult. So much so, I got up at 3:00 AM to write this Blog entry because I could not get any sleep. FINALLY AND FINALLY…I’m allergic to the crop-dusting chemicals which leads to a very nasty sinus infection. Here’s what it did to me in 2006. The left side of my face really swells up…
I did get to see a few of my old friends yesterday afternoon and may get to see a few others this morning. BUT, I’m out of here…soon.
Later this morning I’ll re-cross the Colorado River back into Winterhaven, California and rejoin my friend Randy and others at the Paradise Casino for the time being.
It’s now 4:15 AM and despite the crop-dusting plane still flying, I’m going back to bed and try to get a little more sleep.
Yesterday was a mostly cloudy day at 66 degrees. Forecast for today is mostly sunny with and 66 degrees.
The red dot on the below map shows our approximate location in the State of California. You may double left-click the map to make it larger…
Enjoying 65-75 degree temperatures with low humidity most of the year is a primary joy in the RVing lifestyle!
