The Latest News…

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort at La Connor, Washington. I’ll depart here August 23rd.

First the bad news…

The smoke-gray hazy skies continue in western Washington due to wildfires in British Columbia, Canada. The sun is really a fiery orange/red color. Here’s last evening’s sunset…

Other bad news…

Yesterday, my cousin Diane’s husband, Bob, died at age 81. He was neat guy!

Verizon so called customer service. I remain with very slow, very intermittent service. The reps are all very courteous and respectful. However, when you have a technical problem, they make out a work ticket and tell you to get in line. My latest phone call an hour ago told me … they hope to have it resolved by next Tuesday or Wednesday. By then it will be over one week … and they call that customer service! Grrrr!

AND THE REALLY BIG GOOD NEWS…

Back on Labor Day. 2016, I began my weight loss program. Yesterday, after 48 weeks and 4 days, I finally achieved the 50 pound mark…which means I’m still averaging slightly over one pound per week. My ultimate goal is only 5.5 pounds away at which time I’ll weigh 157 pounds…the same weight I was at age 21, 55 years ago! Not many folks my age can make that claim! With the weight loss, I’m feeling absolutely terrific!

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

My Weight Loss (#1)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails San Benito in Paicines, California.

Labor Day last year, I decided it was time to lose some weight. In general, just being careless I weighed in at a whopping 212.5 pounds. The most I’ve ever weighed in my entire life!

Many years ago I lost a lot of weight on the Atkins Diet. So, this time I put myself on a “modified” Atkins Diet.

It’s a three-point plan…

1) Restrict my daily intake of carbohydrates to a maximum of 25 grams.

2) Reduced portion sizes.

3) Moderate exercise…stretchy band for the upper body and a brisk 1-2 mile walk a day.

I began the plan last Labor Day and yesterday (30 weeks later), I’ve lost 34.5 pounds…an overall average of 1.15 pounds weekly. My current weight is 178 pounds.

The below chart shows the progression. I intend to continue on this program (new blank chart starting this week) and lose about another 20 pounds. I’ve discovered you do not lose weight at an even rate. Sometimes a week passes with no apparent loss (Mary calls them “plateaus”). I’m currently on my first two-week plateau. I’m expecting to continue in a downward mode in the very near future.

With the weight loss, I’m feeling absolutely terrific for an old guy! My annual physical is scheduled at the VA Clinic in Sonora, California in less than four weeks. I expect my doctor will be as pleased as I am about this happening.

This time however, I intend to keep the weight off. HOW, you ask? Simple. I’m just going to continue charting my weight once I arrive at my destination. Only three things can be happening regarding weight…you are either going up, going down or staying the same.I’ll mark the chart with heavy lines and allow myself to “bounce around” within a 5 pound tolerance.

By keeping a chart from now on, I’ll have visual presentation to keeping me on the straight and narrow. Pun intended!  🙂

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE INFO.

Yesterday was sunny and 77 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 74 degrees.
