Heron Lake State Park – New Mexico Day 51 (GA199)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. I’m scheduled to depart here October 26th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

In 2011-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!</div?

So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.

This entry was posted August 9, 2012…

My right ribcage area remains slightly swollen and tender to the touch. I’m pleased to report some progress…with the exceptions of a cough or a sneeze, the poppings, with the associated pains, in my chest have finally stopped! I remain taking Ibuprofen, icing my ribcage area 2-3 times a day and wearing an elastic bandage abound my chest. The doctors told me to expect 6-12 weeks for recovery. The accident occurred eight weeks and one day ago today. Can you tell I’m ready for the recovery to be finished?

Looking out of the motorhome dinette window lake I took this early morning photo and then took it using my camera’s watercolor mode. It’s supposed to resemble a watercolor painting. I’m curious whether anyone likes the watercolor mode…

Skagit Bay Presunrise #3

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort along the shore of Skagit Bay in LaConner, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. It’s my favorite resort in the entire Thousand Trails system. My departure date is tomorrow.

Mary is at home tending to personal matters…home maintenance, family, friends, rentals, etc..  She has made her flight reservations to meet me tomorrow in Bellingham, Washington.

I’ve gotten lazy in my retirement. Usually only after publishing my daily blog, attending to my email, have breakfast…attend to my morning toilet and other miscellaneous items…do I head out to do my photography…during the worst time of the day for good results…under the harsh light of mid-day.

The other day though…I got off my lazy butt and got out early. I was in position where I wanted to be and shot during the precious 15 minutes before the sun came over the horizon.

Take the time to absorb and inhale the beautiful pastel colors in the below photos. They were shot in the Watercolor Mode of my camera and lasted only a few moments before they were gone…

In this mode the colors are enhanced and remind me of vintage color postcards like those of 100 years ago. I like them and hope you do…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Natchez, Mississippi – Day 15

Note: Mary flew from Baton Rouge Airport, Louisiana on March 12 to her home in California. I’m hoping to get her back with me by mid-April. My current plans are to drift SLOWLY north along the Mississippi River to Memphis, Tennessee where I’ll then turn northeast heading for New England for the Summer. Can’t go north too fast because it’s still cold up there! The Mississippi River is rich in history…I expect it to be an interesting passage.

————————————————————————————————————–

The motorhome is still parked at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1662 in Natchez, Mississippi. Yesterday’s forecasted thunderstorms never did happen. Morning fog hung around until late morning. Nice afternoon. I expect to leave Natchez today.

Natchez remained mostly undamaged from the Civil War. Hence this old city with its narrow and many one-way streets remains a beautiful city. To read about Natchez, click this link…

Yesterday I posted an entry about the only antebellum home in Natchez that allows interior photography. It’s called the Auburn Museum and Antebellum Home…circa 1812. You can read about Auburn Museum and Antebellum Home by clicking their official website link…

If you missed my Blog entry of yesterday, here’s the link…

Besides allowing photography it is unique because it is the first of the many mansions in the Natchez antebellum period…it also has a freestanding wooden circular staircase…

You saw the above photo in yesterday’s entry. However..you did not see the creative photography of this unique staircase. I love playing with my camera and one of the funnest things to photograph is patterns as shown in the below photos…

Here are some of the photos that I took…

Needing to get out of the motorhome for some fresh air and exercise, I decided to take the five-minute drive back across the Mississippi River to Vidalia, Louisiana and walk along the riverfront. Here I was able to photograph Natchez across the river and both bridges. Because of high noontime harsh sun which makes for flat photographs…I shot them in the watercolor mode which makes for a more enjoyable final result. I hope you enjoy them…

So, yesterday was the final time to walk upon Louisiana soil for this year. Thanks for a great 2013 visit, Louisiana! It also completes a very enjoyable 15 day visit to the Natchez area. Thanks, Natchez!
