Lewis County Historical Museum – Chehalis, Washington

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Chehalis, Washington. I’ve been here several times in the past. I’ll leave here tomorrow.

I’m expecting to arrive at Mary’s home in central California, October 15th and depart November 30th. While there, I’ll do routine maintenance, minor repairs and major cleaning of the Bronco and motorhome.

Today’s Subject…Lewis County Historical Museum…

Yesterday I drove the Bronco the 10 miles to Chehalis and spent an enjoyable 1.5 hours at this nice museum.

I really like local museums…in so many ways they are similar…yet different.
If you are in the Chehalis area I highly recommend this museum to you.

I especially enjoy the old black and white photos of days gone by…never to return.

Here are a few of the photos I took there…

The Museum At Anacortes, Washington…

The motorhome is parked the Thousand Trails RV Resort located in La Conner, Washington. I’ve been here several times in past years. My membership allows a maximum of a three-week stay, out for one-week and then you can return to the first park. My departure date is September 2nd.

I’m just hanging out taking maximum advantage of my Thousand Trails membership and very agreeable weather.

Mary’s personal to-do list plate, which can only be handled by herself, continues to over-flow. Recently we acknowledged that her meeting up with me in September, just is not going to happen.   😦

I’ll next likely see her when I arrive at her home in November. A friend recently expressed a concern about the status of our relationship. Not to worry…it continues to function per our original agreement when we met in October, 2008. That is…I remain on the road and she will join me when her other life allows. We talk every day on the phone…sometimes more than once. It’s just the way life is!

Last year I drove the Bronco the 12 miles to visit the museum at Anacortes, Washington. It’s been about five years since my last visit and the exhibits do change. One of the things I particularly enjoy about museums are the black and white photographs giving us a glimpse into the past of days gone forever…

Coast Guard Station Near Ilwaco, Washington

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Long Beach RV Resort in Seaview, Washington. My scheduled departure date is July 10th.

Mary is dealing with her over-flowing to-do list plate which can only be handled by herself. The construction of Mary’s rental continues along…slowly. She now is hoping to rejoin me by early September.  😦

Last year I visited the Coast Guard Station near Ilwaco Washington. It’s adjacent to the Cape Disappointment State Park which you can read about by clicking this Wikipedia link…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Disappointment_State_Park

I’m Camped Only One Mile from A Famous Place…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Long Beach RV Resort in Seaview, Washington. My scheduled departure date is July 2nd.

Mary is dealing with her over-flowing to-do list plate which can only be handled by herself. The construction of Mary’s rental continues along…slowly. She now is hoping to rejoin me by early September.  😦

I’m currently camped about one mile north from where Captain William Clark (of Lewis and Clark) stepped upon the sand beach of Beards Hollow on the shore of the Pacific Ocean on November 19, 1805. It marks the most westerly point achieved by the Lewis and Clark expedition.

A 1/4 mile walk west of the campground…brings you to the Pacific Ocean…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

About one mile south is Beards Hollow…

Here’s a Lewis and Clark route map showing my proximity to that famous site. Looking closely you will see Captain Clark and his men walked north (left) on the beach by my campground. They went about nine miles further north before returning to Ilwaco. They then crossed the Columbia River to winter at Fort Clatsop in Oregon which I wrote about previously. If you missed that Blog entry you can read it by clicking this link… http://wp.me/pDCku-arj

Here’s a Google Earth view looking north up the Washington Coast to Canada.  TT marks my Thousand Trails current location…

Evergreen State Fair – Monroe, Washington – Day 2

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort at Monroe, Washington.. Our scheduled departure date is tomorrow.

Monday Mary and I went to the Evergreen State Fair. It was senior citizen’s day so we had free admission. Fairs offer a host of photographic opportunities regardless of the brilliant sunshine and the darkness inside buildings which adds to the difficulties of getting a good photo. I took so many photos I’m going to stretch them out over three days. Today is day two…

Monroe, Washington – Day 3

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort in Monroe, Washington.

Yesterday morning I drove Mary to Seatac Airport south of Seattle Washington, She has some important business that needs her attention at home back in California…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

DSC07063

With two people in the Bronco we were able to use the diamond lane and made it to the airport in 45 minutes. I then drove the 12 north to the VA Hospital where I had my first professional eye exam. I was told I have a cataract in my right eye and received a prescription to purchase prescription glasses. A couple of hours later my annual physical exam (which I missed last year because I was in New Mexico) went very well. No problems identified. Unable now to use the diamond lane, the ride back to the motorhome took 1.5 hours during the afternoon rush traffic. Makes me wonder why it’s called rush traffic!  🙂

Renewing my drivers license, and my VA exams accomplished completes two of the three reasons for returning to the Pacific Northwest. The third reason, having my friend and mechanic Kenny do some mechanical work on the Bronco and motorhome awaits completion. With heavy rain forecast for the weekend when we were supposed to get the work done, now may interfere with those plans. One Day At A Time is the order of the day!

Yesterday was a cloudy/sunny cool day. High temperature for the day was 63.

Forecast high temperature for today is 57 degrees, cloudy with rain developing.
