Broadway – Seaside, Oregon

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
My RVing lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. I’ve been here several times before. I plan to depart from here on Wednesday. I’ll spend the rest of the Summer in the State of Washington.

U.S. Highway 101 runs north-south thru Seaside, Oregon. Broadway runs east-west crossing 101. Broadway west leads to the beach. At the end of Broadway there is the “turn-around” circling a statue of Lewis & Clark. Along Broadway west can be found the usual tourist-type shops and arcades.
Here are some photos last Wednesday around noon…probably the slowest day of the week. On the weekends…this place is packed with tourists! Beach photos tomorrow…

Newport To Seaside, Orgeon

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 125 miles from Newport to Seaside, Oregon. U.S Highway 101 along the coast is an old highway with lots of hills, curves and small towns….so a lot of slow going. I’ll depart here June 15th.

Here are some photos I took along the way…

Views From Siuslaw River Bridge #3 – Florence, Oregon

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.

The motorhome is  parked at Thousand Trails South Jetty RV Resort in Florence, Oregon. I’ll depart here tomorrow.

I’ve been here several times over the years and have thoroughly explored the area. So while here this time, I’ll publish some earlier blog entries. Today’s entry was first published May 30, 2015…

Today’s subject…the Siuslaw (pronounced sigh-YOU-slaw) River Bridge in Florence, Oregon…

U.S. Highway 101 is the principal roadway  (mostly) along the shoreline of the western United States. It runs almost 2,500 miles through the States of Washington, Oregon and California. You can read all about this roadway by clicking this Wikipedia link…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_101

Over the years I’ve driven about 99+% of this roadway, missing only the last few miles of its termination in downtown Los Angeles, California.

It’s a very scenic roadway, many times running right directly along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Here in Oregon, traffic slows to a crawl during the summer jammed by the many tourists. I try really hard to avoid this roadway during the time the kids are out of school for their summer vacation.

But, in the Spring and Fall of the year, it’s a delightful place to be! There are many bridges along this roadway. Today I’ll show some photos of the bridge over the Siuslaw River here in Florence…

In the below Google Earth image, TT marks my location and X marks Old Town Florence…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Seaview To Monroe, Washington

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 208 miles from Seaview to Monroe, Washington. The motorhome is now parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort along the bank of the Skykomish River. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. My scheduled departure date is July 20th.

Mary is dealing with her over-flowing to-do list plate which can only be handled by herself. The construction of Mary’s rental continues along…slowly. She now is hoping to rejoin me by early September.  😦

I’ve marked the below Google Earth image in yellow to show my camping spot along the river. It is not a real-time image. This was taken the very end of March…in reality now the park is almost filled to capacity with RV’s…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
