Sealant And Roku…

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,500+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at American Legion Post #19 in Yuma, Arizona. I expect to depart here March 1st.

My Bronco repaint frustrations continue. Went to pick it up Friday night. It would not start. Put on battery charger. Shop closed for the weekend.  Yesterday morning, back to the shop. Still would not start. Later in the day I was told problem was a bad ground cable which has now been replaced.

If I had been able to get it Friday night, I had planned to bring it back on Monday anyways. I had told the paint technician to make sure he did a good job of sealing ,my moon-roof, as I had some occasional leaking problems in the past.. He did such a good job, that in the process he inadvertently sealed the window shut, BUT IT’S DESIGNED TO ABLE TO BE OPENED  BY AN INTERNAL HAND CRANK!…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

So, now he has to remove the sealant on the window so it can be opened, which I use all the time.

In addition a few miscellaneous items, still need to be accomplished such as an additional paint stripe, installation of door edge guards and installation of my new nerf step bars. I was told on the phone at 2:30 PM yesterday, that it should be ready by 10 AM this morning. So, once again this morning and with all fingers crossed, hopefully will finally get my Bronco back today.

My friend Colorado who lives here in Yuma has been driving me back and forth to the paint shop. I got to telling him about my Roku device for your TV set where you can what you want, when you want, with no commercials…

So  we went to Wal-Mart where he bought that same unit as mine. We then went back to his place and I installed it at his home.

My Videos Show Up While Using My New Roku…

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails San Benito in Paicines, California.

A few days ago I blogged about my new Roku device.

Even with a low Verizon signal (one bar on cellphone and two bars on my Verizon Jetpack) it continues to perform just fine.

Most of my TV time in now spent on YouTube. With over a billion videos, there is no shortage of things to view. There’s an abundance of great documentaries and full-length movies…for free! Last evening, among other things,  I watched a great movie made from Tom Clancy’s book OP-Center.

While on YouTube, I was surprised to see my travel videos show up. I’ll provide the link below so you can see them. As I mention in the past, cost associated with Verizon Gigabytes by its very nature tended to have my keep my videos short. With my new Unlimited Verizon data plan, I’ll likely make longer videos in the future.

Anyways, they now show up on my TV and a couple of days ago I viewed them all providing me with some wonderful memories from my long time on the road. The longest runs a little over eight minutes.

They provide wonderful “snippets” of things I’ve experienced.

I hope you enjoy them.  Here’s the link…

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEOS.

Soledad Canyon – California

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon RV Resort in Acton, California. I will depart from here later this morning.

Mary continues to be occupied with personal business. I am now not expecting to see her again until I arrive at her home in Murphys, California about the third week in April. It’s just the way things are and we just have to deal with it.

I’m now in what I’m calling my “pacing mode”. Last October I had cataract surgery at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California. My surgeon wants me back in mid-April for a six-month post-operative eye examination. Palo Alto is only about 400 miles from my current location. So, in the meantime, I’ll “pace” my forward direction travels hoping stay in 65-75 degree temperatures all the while.

Today, my three-week visit in the Soledad Canyon comes to and end. Soledad in Spanish means solitude, lonesome, loneliness. The Soledad Canyon Road is about 30 miles long. During that time I’ve taken a few photos in the area and here they are…

It’s a scenic drive…

I inquired and found out they were doing a TV series called Scorpion which is seen on CBS on Monday evening at 9 PM. I’ve not seen the program. In a nearby parking lot in the park there were about an additional 200 private cars. Shuttle vans carried the workers to the filming location…

It’s been a quiet and peaceful stay here…except for the occasional train whistle. 🙂

Working On The Motorhome – Day 6

The motorhome is parked in Mary’s yard at her home at Murphys, California. I expect to be here until shortly after Thanksgiving cleaning and doing minor work on both the motorhome and Bronco. After our 682 day journey, they are both ready for some attention.

Yesterday was a cold 52 degrees with early morning rain and cloudy most of the day. Sunny skies return later today with a high of 57. Then sunny through November 6th with temps in low 70’s to high 60’s.

Now that all my outside work is done on the motorhome and Bronco,  I’ve shifted my attention to the inside of the motorhome, meaning…interior cleaning.

Yesterday, instead of cleaning, I chose another task. We bought the motorhome in 2009. I completed the installation of the six-channel surround sound system on October 2, 2009 http://wp.me/pDCku-1x

I completed the installation of the 26″ flat screen TV on October 30th, 2011 http://wp.me/pDCku-2FA

When I installed the new flat screen TV, I did so in a manner that did not provide for the connection of our 19″ TV in the bedroom…hence it has not worked since that time. Time to fix that and that is what I did yesterday. It took some doing, but I finally got it working.

It all revolves around the control box with the eight brass button which sits atop the VCR/DVD player over the passenger seat. By pushing the right combinations of buttons it routes the video signal to where you want it…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

DSC07531

This is the 19″ TV in the bedroom area where I was trying to get the signal to go…

DSC07532

The process started by taking out the VCR from the compartment and setting it in a manner where I could still run a VHS tape. The control box is still in the compartment because the wires going to it are very short…

DSC07534

The six-channel surround sound and DVD player is in the compartment to the left of the TV screen over the driver’s seat…

DSC07537

Behind which are lots of wires…

DSC07538

I have no manual for the control box. But I do for the 26″ TV, the 19″ TV, the six channel surround sound box and the VHS/DVD player. The problem I faced was how to wire the system properly so that the six channel surround sound would work properly in all modes…

DSC07540

After puzzling over this mess for a couple of hours and trying a number of combinations, I finally got things working properly and the bedroom TV now works…

DSC07539

One more item to remove from my to do list.

Slowly but surely, I’m chipping away at my to do list. More cleaning today.

Since our accident about 1.5 years ago, I now suffer from diminished energy/stamina. I can now work only 2-3 hours a day before I get tired and have to quit. I know that these current Blog entries are not particularly exciting reading, but they do reflect the daily activities of a full-time RVer. Gotta stop and clean and work on the vehicles once in a while!

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Home Theater Experience On The Road…

A short while back we decided to upgrade our TV in the motorhome even though we are not big TV watchers. We replaced the original 20 inch, 58 pound monster that was installed at the time the coach was manufactured in February, 2006 and showing signs of impending failure. We replaced it with an LG 26 inch LCD-LED flat screen that weighs a mere 11.2 pounds.

In the last two evenings I watched the TV in earnest for the first time since leaving Mary’s home ten days ago. I decided to watch a two PBS VHS tape of Lewis & Clark…a total of four hours viewing…

These VHS tapes were fabricated in 1997. Despite being 14 years old, I was truly impressed with the clarity and the vivid colors when seen on the new TV…

As they say…the photos I took just don’t do it justice. Nonetheless…when coupled with our six-channel surround sound system…the Home Theater experience is very realistic right here in the comfort of our home on wheels. Bring on the DVD’s!

The Motor-Home Theater Is Now Operational…

Three days ago I discussed the fact that Mary and I had agreed to up date the TV in the motorhome and that her youngest son Doug, a master carpenter, was fabricating a new frame on which to mount this TV. If you missed the Blog entry…here’s the link…

vhttp://wp.me/pDCku-2EG

He returned yesterday with a beautiful new oak frame and together he and I spent a couple of hours carefully mounting the TV to the back of the frame. Here’s a photo of how it attached to the frame…

Here’s the final installation with the unit in place. I popped in a Tom Cruise movie for a short test run…

The new TV combined with the previously installed six-channel surround-sound system now allows us a home theater experience while out on the open road. If you are curious about the details of our new TV…here’s the informational link from LG…

http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/televisions/LG-led-tv-26LV2500.jsp

The LG brand uses the initials LG to indicate…Life’s Good. Looking at out new installation…I’d say Looks Good!
