More Photos from Rockhound State Park – Deming, New Mexico (GA48)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails San Benito RV Resort, Paicines, California. I’ll depart from here April 19th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

In 2012-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!

So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.

This entry was posted March 13, 2012…

We are still parked at Rockhound State Park, about 10 miles from downtown Deming, New Mexico.

Yesterday Mary and I went for a walk around the park. She went in search of rocks and I went in search of photographs. She found some rocks, I found some photographs.

Here are some photos that I took…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

And finally some just after sunset photos…

This sure is a great photographic location. The sunset ranks among the very best I seen in my entire life.

In other news…

Mary is leaving me once again. She’ll board the 6:11 PM Amtrak Train this evening headed for home to take care of taxes and other business. I’ll continue on traveling alone. I hope to get her back within about six weeks.

Central America Trip #105

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
My RVing lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon, Oregon. I’ve been here several times before. I plan to depart from here June 15th. I’ll slow my pace and spend the rest of the Summer in the State of Washington.

Recently I’ve been running blogs about my 2004 Central America trip. While here, I’m intending to continue those postings while also alternating with this area blogs.

Today, I’m taking you back to my…

2004 Central America trip…

This trip ended up being 343 days and 16,000+ miles through the back-country of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. 11 rigs started the trip, within a week we broke into three smaller groups for ease of traveling. Only myself and one other rig went the full, pre-planned route. All the others dropped out for various reasons. All returned safely to the United States. I’m planning to show these photos, more or less, 10 a day, whenever I’m not doing something else deserving a blog entry. FINALLY, it must be remembered these photos are prior to my switching to digital in 2006. The films were developed during our trip and the lack of quality control sometimes is plainly evident.

Today…Mexico (north-bound) 30…

We are still in Durango, Mexico.  A number of American Westerns were shot here at two different movie sets in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. They haven’t been used since that time so they were in some state of disrepair. Many famous actors including John Wayne made famous movies here. Wayne’s last film Cahill was filmed here…

Lewis And Clark’s Fort Clatsop – Oregon

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. I’ve been here several times before. I plan to depart from here June 15th. I’ll slow my pace and spend the rest of the Summer in the State of Washington.

I first published this blog entry June 3, 2014…

I’m in Lewis and Clark country. The below Google earth image shows the details. The lower TT indicates my current location at Thousand Trails RV Resort at Seaside, Oregon. 10 miles to the north the FC marks Fort Clatsop where Lewis & Clark spent the winter of 1805-06. Progressing north (upward) across the mouth of the Columbia River, the X marks the furthest western progression of Lewis & Clark when they first stepped upon a Pacific Ocean beach at Beard’s Hollow. And a mere one mile north, the TT above the X marks Thousand Trails Long Beach RV Resort at Seaview, Washington…

Although I had visited Fort Clatsop a few years back, I re-visited it again yesterday. It’s always a real pleasure for me to visit an important historic location. Here are some of the photos that I took…

Evergreen State Fair – Monroe, Washington – Day 3

The motorhome is now parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort along the bank of the Skykomish River in Monroe, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. My scheduled departure date is September 23rd.

I’m just hanging out taking maximum advantage of my Thousand Trails membership and very agreeable weather.

Mary’s personal to-do list plate, which can only be handled by herself, continues to over-flow. Recently we acknowledged that her meeting up with me in September, just is not going to happen.   😦

I’ll next likely see her when I arrive at her home in mid-October. A friend recently expressed a concern about the status of our relationship. Not to worry…it continues to function per our original agreement when we met in October, 2008. That is…I remain on the road and she will join me when her other life allows. We talk every day on the phone…sometimes more than once. It’s just the way life is!

The big thing in Monroe this time of year is The Evergreen State Fair. This year it runs August 27 through September 7. I took the below photos are from last year when Mary was here with me.

Skagit Bay Sunset #2…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort along the shore of Skagit Bay in La Conner, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. It’s my favorite resort in the entire Thousand Trails system. My departure date is August 7th.

Mary is dealing with her over-flowing to-do list plate which can only be handled by herself. The construction of Mary’s rental continues along…slowly. She now is hoping to rejoin me by early September.  😦 Today at Mary’s location forecast is 106 degrees…that’s why I’m here!
