Saulsbury, Tennessee Day 1 (GA471)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Monroe, Washington. I’m scheduled to depart September 28th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted April 25, 2013…

Things do not always work out as planned.

Yesterday I took Mary for a second  acupuncture appointment at 9:30 AM…that part worked out okay. When we returned to the motorhome at VFW Post #10567 at Southaven, Mississippi, I found a note on our door indicating I needed to come inside and talk to the Bartender. She informed me the city had called and said we had stayed too long and that we needed to leave…NOW…or they would be fined. Not wanting that to happen…we left.

A day earlier than I had planned, I ended up driving the motorhome the about 75 miles east to Thousand Trails Cherokee Landing RV Resort near Saulsbury, Tennessee. We are Thousand Trails members and you can read about this resort by clicking this link…

It’s pretty, peaceful and quiet here. Our current plans are to leave here on Monday. After a hectic week in the Memphis area, we need a bit of a rest.

Enjoying pretty, peaceful and quiet places is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Shiloh, Tennessee

The motorhome is parked the Thousand Trails RV Resort located La Conner, Washington. I’ve been here several times in past years. I’ll depart here tomorrow.

I’m just hanging out taking maximum advantage of my Thousand Trails membership and very agreeable weather.

Mary’s personal to-do list plate, which can only be handled by herself, continues to over-flow. Recently we acknowledged that her meeting up with me in September, just is not going to happen.   😦

I’ll next likely see her when I arrive at her home in November. A friend recently expressed a concern about the status of our relationship. Not to worry…it continues to function per our original agreement when we met in October, 2008. That is…I remain on the road and she will join me when her other life allows. We talk every day on the phone…sometimes more than once. It’s just the way life is!

On July 12th, I blogged about the great Civil War photo book I found in a Goodwill store. If you missed that posting, here’s the link…http://wp.me/pDCku-ckv

I’ve really enjoyed reading this book reminding me of the many places I’ve been that played an important role in the Civil War. I’ve decided it would be a great time to re-visit some of the places and share them with you. If I’m writing a blog entry about a place, means I read about it in this great Civil War photo book with nearly 4,000 photographs and I have been there! I’ll continue these Blog postings until I’ve until I do them all in my collection.

Today’s subject: Shiloh, Tennessee…

Pearl Museum – Camden, Tennessee

The motorhome is currently parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. My current departure date is scheduled for December 1st.

During this time I’ll be attending to my cataract surgery, cleaning, routine maintenance and minor repairs to the motorhome and Bronco in addition to assisting Mary with her activities. None of these items are particularly exciting to write about…so…instead I’ll be showing Picasa Web Albums from our 682 day, 2011-2013 circumnavigation of the United States. It was Mary’s second circumnavigation and the sixth for myself.

Unless we do something unusual, this Blog will feature a photo album from the circumnavigation and will change daily. So come back tomorrow.

The cataract surgery on my right eye was successfully accomplished at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California on October 9th and I’m in my recovery mode. I have a post-op exam scheduled for October 24th. Also at that time I’ll have a pre-op exam for my left eye. That surgery is scheduled for November 6th.

Yesterday was a sunny day and 74 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 71 degrees.

Winchester, Virginia – Day 2

The motorhome is still parked at Moose Lodge #1283. We expect to leave here tomorrow.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the about one mile to the Winchester Visitor Center for local information.

Winchester was the home of famous country singer Patsy Cline whose song “Crazy”, written by Willie Nelson, remains the #1 jukebox-played song of all time. At the center was a small Patsy Cline exhibit. Patsy died in a plane crash at the age of 30 near Camden, Tennessee. We visited that site recently and you can see the Blog entry by clicking this link…

Here’s the poster for Patsy’s last performance. She died on Tuesday March 5, 1963…

Then we drove the about two miles to her grave site at Shenandoah Memorial Park…

From there about three miles to Patsy’s childhood home at 608 Kent Street…

Where docents Patricia (Patsy’s first cousin) and Pam (Patsy’s second cousin) told us Patsy stories. No photography was allowed in the house…
