Heron Lake State Park – New Mexico Day 80 (GA234)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,500+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Palm Springs RV Resort in Palm Desert, California. I expect to depart here December 20th.

This entry was posted September 13, 2012…

The motorhome is still parked at Heron Lake State Park about 20 miles south of Chama, New Mexico. I’ll be departing later this morning for Taos, New Mexico, about 100 miles from here.

I’m finding I’m not fully recovered from the May 27 accident. I seem to tire easily…I don’t have the physical resiliency I once had. I seem to be moving at half my normal speed. I’m still wearing my elastic chest bandage, taking Ibuprofen and icing my rib cage area twice a day. Oh well, I’ve no choice but to live with the situation until things take care of themselves. Life still must go on. I’m glad I’m still around to enjoy it.

For the next couple of days, I’m going to finish showing photos from Heron Lake State Park. Today’s photos are particularly stunning, as in several of them…the clouds act as a filter and the distinct circle of the sun can be clearly seen. A most unusual happening!

While they are similar because of the momentary setting…they are all very different and unique. I hope you will open each one and enjoy their uniqueness. I particularly like to enjoy the colors and the shapes. Just like staring at a fire from moment to moment…you never see quite the same thing…

Heron Lake State Park – New Mexico Day 28 (GA176)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort in Monroe, Washington. I’m currently scheduled to depart here September 26th..

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

In 2011-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!</div?

So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.

This entry was posted July 16, 2012…

The motorhome is still parked here at Heron Lake State Park about 20 miles south of Chama, New Mexico while I am recovering from my May 27th accident.

My right ribcage area remains slightly swollen and tender to the touch. I’m pleased to report some progress…with the exceptions of a cough or a sneeze, the poppings, with the associated pains, in my chest have finally stopped! I remain taking Ibuprofen, icing my ribcage area 2-3 times a day and wearing an elastic bandage abound my chest. The doctors told me to expect 6-12 weeks for recovery. The accident occurred seven weeks and two days ago today. Can you tell I’m ready for the recovery to be finished?

Today’s blog entry shows abstract photos created by 6:30 AM morning clouds and sun. They are all somewhat similar, yet different…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

By the way…the previous photos were all taken through this rather dirty, rain-spotted motorhome windshield…

Enjoying beautiful early morning skies is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

21 Years Ago Yesterday…

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 21st year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at the Paradise Casino in Yuma, Arizona. I expect to depart here January 10th.

Todays subject… 21 years ago yesterday…

was December 22, 1995…the day I departed Olympia, Washington to begin my full-time RVing lifestyle. Today therefore marks the beginning of my 22nd year.

Back in 1995 I was driving a Chevy Suburban and towing an 18 foot travel trailer. Here’s a photo taken while in Baja, California, Mexico in 1998. The film was developed in Mexico hence the spotty photo. As always you may click upon the photos to see an enlarged view…

In 1999 I bought a 1983, 23 foot Class A Suncrest Motorhome and a 1984 Ford Bronco II specifically to take to Central America. This photo was taken in 2004 during that trip…

I met Mary in 2008 and in 2009 we acquired my current motorhome and Ford Bronco II…

The last 21 years have been delightful. Here’s hoping I’ve got another 21 years of full-time RVing. It’s a lousy job…but someone’s got to do it!  🙂

Yesterday I saw an unusual sight here in Yuma…dark clouds! If you are a regular follower of my blogs, you know the norm is sunny skies with spectacular sunrises and sunsets…

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Yesterday was cloudy and 59 degrees. Forecast for today is partly cloudy and 67 degrees.

Palm Desert, California To Yuma, Arizona…

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 21st year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 151 miles from Palm Desert, California to Yuma, Arizona.

Most of the first one-half of the trip was on California Highway 111 along the eastern shore of the Salton Sea and directly atop the San Andreas Fault and 200 feet below sea level…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

I enjoy this drive because there is very little traffic for about 30 miles along the shore of the Salton Sea…

When you get within about 75 miles of Mexico you start to see Border Patrol checkpoints. This first one stops vehicles heading north only…

Heading east on Interstate Highway 8 about 15 miles west of Yuma, Arizona you cross the six-mile wide Algodones Sand Dunes which you can read about by clicking this link…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algodones_Dunes

Here’s my parking spot at the Paradise Casino where parking is free for as long as you care to stay. I’m expecting to be here for a while hiding out from the cold weather. Yuma is the sunniest place on Earth. I have a number of friends in the area…

A Cloudy Day In Arizona!

The motorhome is currently parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. My current departure date is scheduled December 1st. 13 Days and counting!

In addition to our personal Blog, I also Blog for the Seattle PI and San Francisco Chronicle. Seattle is a beautiful city, but after October 1st it starts to seriously cloud up as the Winter season comes on. While entering my Blog in the Seattle PI the other day…I saw this ad…

AZ (Copy)

It put a smile on my face to realize I’ll be arriving in the sunniest place on earth…one month from today…Yuma, Arizona!

Yuma is the only place on earth confirmed to bask in more than 4000 hours of sunshine a year. Altogether 90 percent of the daylight in Yuma is sunny. Year round, Yuma averages 11 hours of sun a day.

Don’t believe me? Click this link to confirm…http://www.currentresults.com/Weather-Extremes/sunniest-places-countries-world.php

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTO.

The cataract surgery of my right eye was conducted on October 9th and my left eye on November 6th. Both eyes are now at 20/20. The only remaining item left (other than eye drops until early December) is a visit to the optometrist to be fitted for reading glasses at the VA Hospital in Livermore, California on November 25th.

Yesterday was a partly sunny day and 62 degrees. Forecast for today is mostly sunny and 66 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

A Walk On The Beach…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Birch Bay RV resort in Blaine, Washington. This location marks the furthest northern most point of our planned 2014 travels. I’ve been here several times over the years and always enjoy the area. Our departure date is set at August 12th.

Yesterday Mary said she would like to go for a walk on the beach…so we drove the one mile to Birch Bay. I didn’t bring shoes that I wanted to get wet so I remained ashore enjoying the onshore breeze and followed Mary with my camera. Being a bright sunny afternoon most of my photos were shot looking directly west into the sun making for very difficult photography conditions.  Such is life…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Mary reported that while it may appear a little muddy it’s really mostly all hard-packed dark sand. She said she enjoyed her walk so it was time well spent on a sunny and warm last day of July!

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

Yesterday was a sunny at 78 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 79 degrees.
