The Sports Activities…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon RV Resort in Acton, California

Mary continues to be occupied with personal business. I am now not expecting to see her again until I arrive at her home in Murphys, California about the third week in April. It’s just the way things are and we just have to deal with it.

I’m now in what I’m calling my “pacing mode”. Last October I had cataract surgery at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California. My surgeon wants me back in mid-April for a six-month post-operative eye examination. Palo Alto is only about 400 miles from my current location. So, in the meantime, I’ll “pace” my forward direction travels hoping stay in 65-75 degree temperatures all the while.

Recently I took about a 45 minute walk around the RV Resort and took a number of photos which I’ll share with you in the coming days.

First, a Google earth image of the park. The yellow outlines the resort boundaries, My site is the small yellow spot. This is not a real-time photo from Google Earth. The campground now is only about 50% occupied. This is a large campground set on 266 acres with 853 campsites. From north to south the parks is 1.5 miles…

In other news..

It appears the weatherman is shifting to a lower gear. For the last six+ weeks the weather in the southwest has run 5-20 degrees above normal average with some calling it the warmest winter on record. Yesterday and today are about 10 degrees below normal. The forecast for the next six weeks or so is calling for 5-10 below normal. Hmmm…I guess that why it’s called an average. It sure was nice while it lasted.

Yesterday was a sunny and 69 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 64 degrees.

Santa Fe, New Mexico

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon RV Resort in Acton, California. Mary is at home attending to personal matters. I had planned to leave tomorrow, but have decided to leave today…a day early. At this location, even with the motorhome rooftop amplification system, Internet and cell phone service is slow and spotty at best.

California has been in an extended drought, but this week back to back winter storms starting four days ago and ending today will bring lots of much-needed rain to the area. Only spotty showers are forecast for today.

I’ve had a change of plans. Last September during my eye exam at the Seattle, Washington VA Hospital I was told I have a large cataract in my right eye that should be attended to in the next year. It’s always been difficult getting to that VA Hospital, so I’ve made arrangements to change to a local VA Clinic in Sonora, California…about 25 miles from Mary’s home. My appointment to meet my new primary care doctor is on March 7th who will make the necessary arrangements to have my eye problem corrected.

A more relaxed mode..

After our 682 day on-the-go 2011-2013 circumnavigation of the United States, we have decided to slip into a more relaxed mode. In the next few months we will be traveling through areas previously explored. Unless we do something unusual, this Blog will feature a photo album from the circumnavigation and will change daily.
