The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon RV Resort in Acton, California. I’m scheduled to depart April 2nd.

I have been publishing a travel blog for more than ten years. I’ve used this platform to document my extensive travels of the North American Continent. But this is a travel blog and why should I limit it to only my travel?

Yesterday I shared my interest in Pitcairn Island with you. Identified as “One of the hardest places to get to on Earth”.

Also yesterday I stumbled upon another great video (below) detailing life on this remotest of locations. It runs 28:35 minutes and I found it most enjoyable. I trust you will also…

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEO.

Forecast for today is mostly sunny and 65 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

I have been publishing a travel blog for more than ten years. I’ve used this platform to document my extensive travels of the North American Continent ever since I took up photography in 1974.

Unfortunately, I was not into photography when I was in the United States Navy more than 50 years ago, so I have no photographic records of those travels to a number of countries.

Years ago, I invented the question…  Why is an RV and a good book much alike?

Answer: They both take you to wonderful places. The RV takes you physically and a good book takes you mentally.

My favorite book(s) of all time is The Bounty Trilogy which you can read about by clicking this link…

Bounty Trilogy

The Bounty Trilogy consists of three parts…

1) Mutiny on the Bounty … The story of the actual mutiny which occurred in 1779.

2) Men against the sea … The story of Captain Bligh and the men forced to leave the Bounty.

3) Pitcairn Island … The story of the mutineers final landing-place where they burned the Bounty.

Pitcairn Island is located in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean. Here’s a great link describing it as…

One of the hardest places to get to on Earth…

Pitcairn Islands

You can read all about Pitcairn Island by clicking this Wikipedia link…

Pitcairn Islands

Over the past few years I’ve looked at a number of websites about Pitcairn Islands. At my advanced age it’s unlikely I’ll ever get there. If you have not been there, you likely not end going there either.

A couple of days ago I ran across the below delightful 36:08 minute video. I so enjoyed it, I decided to share it with you. I encourage you to view it full screen…

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEO.

Soledad Canyon – California

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon RV Resort in Acton, California. I will depart from here later this morning.

Mary continues to be occupied with personal business. I am now not expecting to see her again until I arrive at her home in Murphys, California about the third week in April. It’s just the way things are and we just have to deal with it.

I’m now in what I’m calling my “pacing mode”. Last October I had cataract surgery at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California. My surgeon wants me back in mid-April for a six-month post-operative eye examination. Palo Alto is only about 400 miles from my current location. So, in the meantime, I’ll “pace” my forward direction travels hoping stay in 65-75 degree temperatures all the while.

Today, my three-week visit in the Soledad Canyon comes to and end. Soledad in Spanish means solitude, lonesome, loneliness. The Soledad Canyon Road is about 30 miles long. During that time I’ve taken a few photos in the area and here they are…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

It’s a scenic drive…

I inquired and found out they were doing a TV series called Scorpion which is seen on CBS on Monday evening at 9 PM. I’ve not seen the program. In a nearby parking lot in the park there were about an additional 200 private cars. Shuttle vans carried the workers to the filming location…

And finally…a tunnel…

It’s been a quiet and peaceful stay here…except for the occasional train whistle. 🙂

Recently I took about a 45 minute walk around the RV Resort and took a number of photos which I’ll share with you in the coming days. Today I show the final photos from this set.

First, a Google earth image of the park. The yellow outlines the resort boundaries, My site is the small yellow spot. This is not a real-time photo from Google Earth. The campground now is only about 50% occupied. This is a large campground set on 266 acres with 853 campsites. From north to south the parks is 1.5 miles…

In other news..

It appears the weatherman is shifting to a lower gear. For the last six+ weeks the weather in the southwest has run 5-20 degrees above normal average with some calling it the warmest winter on record. Yesterday and today are about 10 degrees below normal. The forecast for the next six weeks or so is calling for 5-10 below normal. Hmmm…I guess that why it’s called an average. It sure was nice while it lasted.

Yesterday was a sunny/cloudy and 63 degrees. Forecast for today is mostly cloudy with showers around and 54 degrees.
