The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Palm Desert, California. I’m scheduled to depart here March 26th.

This is the fifth video which I guess is becoming a series about how politicians are destroying our beautiful country..

In past blogs I’ve centered on California, but I stumbled across this one just yesterday and it was dated March 14, 2019. When main stream media elects to identify this kind of a situation It must really be bad. KOMO is a long-time TV station in Seattle…

Watch for yourself and draw your own conclusions. If you cannot spare a whole hour, after the first few minutes you will get the drift. Early in this video it is identified that second only to San Francisco, Seattle leads the nation in crime.

Someone once said… “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Today’s politicians either do not get it or just do not care. You choose. If political outlooks remain the same as the last few years… things will only get worse as the United States continues on it’s downhill journey…

If you agree with this message, I encourage you to share it with your friends.

Despite the disparaging message…

I hope you enjoyed the video.

Forecast for today is sunny and 73 degrees.

Enjoying 65-75 degree temperatures with low humidity most of the year is a primary joy in the RVing lifestyle!

The Three Musketeers Reunite!

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort at La Conner, Washington where I recently spent three weeks. Our departure from here is scheduled for August 19th.

Yesterday the Three Musketeers had their first-ever meeting on the west coast. Last meeting was 14 years ago on the east coast.

It all started, when as a child, my family moved to Revere, Massachusetts…five miles north of Boston in 1950. It was then I met Bil Gallagher and Al Penta and we became fast friends. Everywhere one was seen it was sure the other two were somewhere nearby. The first below photo is of our fifth grade graduation in 1951. Bill is upper left…Al is lower right and I’m third from right in the lower line…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

img068

We remained close friends until Al and I went off to join the U.S. Navy (at separate times) and Bill went off the college.

Our next meeting was not to occur until 1991 in Revere when I was on the east coast for my son’s wedding. Al just happened to be there visiting family at that time and Bill drove down from his then home in Vermont to meet up with us. In this photo Al is on the left, Bill middle and I’m on the right…

Our next meeting was not to occur until 2000, once again in Revere. Al and I were both back in the area visiting family and friends…once again Bill drove down to meet us. In this photo Bill is left, I’m middle and Al is right…

img058

And yesterday in 2014, we had our first-ever meeting on the west coast at Mt. Vernon, Washington. Bill, who is semi-retired, had a business meeting in Vancouver, B,C., Canada and had to go right by us to get back to Sea-Tac Airport south of Seattle. Al drove in from his home in Monroe about one hour away. Mary and I drove in from our camping location in La Conner…about a 20 minute drive. We met at the Skagit Valley Food Co-op Restaurant and enjoyed a great 2.5 hour reunion. In this photo, I’m left, Bill middle and Al is right…

All things considered for our advanced ages…we are still in pretty decent condition. Part of our discussions yesterday was identifying long ago school friends who have already passed away. We all are hoping this will not be our final reunion!

Recently I had a telephone conversation with the VA Hospital at Palo Alto California regarding my cataract surgery. Pre-operation examination and consultation is set for September 29th…surgery on October 9th.

Yesterday was a cloudy/sunny/rainy at 68 degrees. Forecast for today is cloudy/sunny/rainy and 68 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Heron Lake State Park, New Mexico

The motorhome is parked at American Legion Post #262 in Fortuna, California. Mary is home attending to personal matters. I expect to depart here on Monday.

I’ve had a change of plans. Last September during my eye exam at the Seattle, Washington VA Hospital I was told I have a large cataract in my right eye that should be attended to in the next year. It’s always been difficult getting to that VA Hospital, so yesterday I burned up a lot of my cell phone minutes making arrangements to change to a local VA Clinic in Sonora, California…about 25 miles from Mary’s home. I now have a March 7th appointment to meet my new primary care doctor there. He will get me to the eye people and I hoping that I might have my eye surgery before Mary leaves for her three-week trip with her grandson to Turkey on April 18th. I now have plans to arrive Mary’s home in 11 days on March 5th.

A note about today’s photo album. It contains 493 photos and will take about 18 minutes to view completely. I stayed at Heron Lake State Park for about three months nursing my painful injuries from the terrible accident of May 27, 2012. It’s a beautiful place and I saw many spectacular cloud formations, sunsets and sunrises…and, oh, the vast array of colors! Many were taken from the dinette window of the motorhome and some are in the watercolor mode. As always, all of the photos were taken in the hand-held mode. I hope you enjoy them near as much as I enjoyed taking them. If you missed the Blog entry about the accident, you can read about it by clicking this link…

A more relaxed mode..

After our 682 day on-the-go 2011-2013 circumnavigation of the United States, we have decided to slip into a more relaxed mode. In the next few months we will be traveling through areas previously explored. Unless we do something unusual, this Blog will feature a photo album from the circumnavigation and will change daily.

Lacey, Washington – Day 1

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 90 miles from Monroe to Lacey, Washington…in the down-pouring rain.

Interstate Highway 405 which bypasses Seattle is always crowded, but add some rain and it becomes a real bear…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

DSC07122

South of Seattle, I drove Interstate Highway 5 in a heavy down-pour. The idiots never slow down and drive like madmen. It’s really dangerous, stressful and tiring driving. But, I managed to arrive safely at American Legion Post #94 in Lacey where they provided me with an electrical hookup so I could run my electric heater. High temperature yesterday was only 48 degrees with a real feel of 44. I’m back off of the road by about 300 feet, so it is nice and quiet…

DSC07127

Here’s the usual dinette window shot…

DSC07128

I unhooked the Bronco and drove the two miles to the Hawks Prairie Restaurant and met my ex-neighbor Ted Price of 16 years and enjoyed a nice meal together. His wife Judy, didn’t make it as she was watching grand-kids. Ted is 77 and stays in real good shape by being active. One of his favorite chores is splitting firewood…

DSC07123

Being really tired from the drive I returned to the motorhome and took a nap. About 4:30 I had some visitors…

DSC07135

About 7:00 PM the sun poked out from under the cloud cover. I haven’t seen the sun in a week! It also appeared to be the end of the storm front…

DSC07147

A little while later I saw the flags over the roof-line of the American Legion Post in the evening twilight…

DSC07149

Today I’ll visit some other friends in the area. High temperature is forecast at 58 degrees and sunny. I’ll depart from here continuing south tomorrow morning.

Last night I watched another old movie from the 1930’s. This time it was 1931- Little Caesar starring Edward G. Robinson. Another classic!

Monroe, Washington – Day 3

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort in Monroe, Washington.

Yesterday morning I drove Mary to Seatac Airport south of Seattle Washington, She has some important business that needs her attention at home back in California…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

DSC07063

With two people in the Bronco we were able to use the diamond lane and made it to the airport in 45 minutes. I then drove the 12 north to the VA Hospital where I had my first professional eye exam. I was told I have a cataract in my right eye and received a prescription to purchase prescription glasses. A couple of hours later my annual physical exam (which I missed last year because I was in New Mexico) went very well. No problems identified. Unable now to use the diamond lane, the ride back to the motorhome took 1.5 hours during the afternoon rush traffic. Makes me wonder why it’s called rush traffic!  🙂

Renewing my drivers license, and my VA exams accomplished completes two of the three reasons for returning to the Pacific Northwest. The third reason, having my friend and mechanic Kenny do some mechanical work on the Bronco and motorhome awaits completion. With heavy rain forecast for the weekend when we were supposed to get the work done, now may interfere with those plans. One Day At A Time is the order of the day!

Yesterday was a cloudy/sunny cool day. High temperature for the day was 63.

Forecast high temperature for today is 57 degrees, cloudy with rain developing.

Monroe, Washington – Day 2

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort in Monroe, Washington.

Most of yesterday was dedicated to getting ready for today. Laundry day, etc… This morning I’ll drive Mary to SeaTac Airport south of Seattle. She has pressing business at home and needs to return early. After dropping her off, I’ll head to the Seattle VA Hospital for an eye and annual physical exam which I missed last year because I was in New Mexico.

I expect to arrive at Mary’s home with the motorhome not later than October 15th.

Not a lot of interesting activity yesterday. The only photos were of the Snohomish River taken from the motorhome kitchen window at dusk….

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
