I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEO.

The cataract surgery of my right eye was conducted on October 9th and my left eye on November 6th. Both eyes are now at 20/20. The only remaining item left (other than eye drops until early December) is a visit to the optometrist to be fitted for reading glasses at the VA Hospital in Livermore, California was yesterday. I made a last-minute phone call and changed my appointment to December 2nd.

Yesterday was a mostly sunny day and 72 degrees. Forecast for today is mostly sunny and 69 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Working On The Motorhome – Day 12

The motorhome is parked in Mary’s yard at her home at Murphys, California. My departure date to head South is now set for December 2nd. About one month later Mary will fly to meet me in Yuma, Arizona.

In the meantime, I’ll continue cleaning and doing minor work on both the motorhome and Bronco. After our 682 day journey, they were both ready for some attention.

Yesterday was a mostly sunny day at 62 degrees. The forecast calls for sunny weather in the 60’s and low 70’s through November 10th. Today is forecast sunny and 64 degrees.

Yesterday I took a break from cleaning and did some miscellaneous chores. First I assisted Mary with the repair of a Strongback Chair she really likes. Mary’s son Doug is a big guy and exceeds the chair’s weight rating, hence the need for a repair. Luckily we managed to get the damage repaired. Mary sewed while I held the awkward chair in positions that she was able to sew…

Then I updated our atlas with all Thousand Trails locations west of the Mississippi River. Mary and I are members of Thousand Trails and no longer expect to travel east of the Mississippi River…

The black dots makes it really easy to see at a glance where they are located…

Using the computer made finding their locations easy…

Finally I filled out my Health Care Agent and Living Will form. This identifies who can make health care decisions for me if I’m not able to do so. It also describes my desires of what I want done in certain medical situations. Need to be ready for the eventual day!

My miscellaneous chores list is now complete. The only thing awaiting my attention is more cleaning on the interior of the motorhome.

More cleaning today.

Since our accident about 1.5 years ago, I now suffer from diminished energy/stamina. I can now work only 2-3 hours a day before I get tired and have to quit. I know that these current Blog entries are not particularly exciting reading, but they do reflect the daily activities of a full-time RVer. Gotta stop and clean and work on the vehicles once in a while!

Nicolaus, California

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 135 miles from Redding to Nicolaus, California.

I started the day driving south on Interstate Highway 5…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

After about 30 miles I reached Red Bluff on got on California Highway 99 South. With slower speed limits and a lot less of 18 wheelers, it’s a lot less stressful and more pleasant drive through miles of fruit orchards. It goes through a number of small towns with an occasional traffic light…

DSC07238

On the two-lane portions, speed limits are typically 55 miles per hour…

DSC07239

With an occasional road repair…

DSC07240

On the four-lane portions, speed limits are typically 65 miles per hour. California State Law has a maximum of 55 miles per hour for all towing vehicles. Since I’m towing the Bronco, that means me…

DSC07241

Near my overnight parking location there are lots of walnut orchards…

DSC07242

I spent the night at Thousand Trails Lake Minden RV Resort of which Mary and I are members. The X marks my location in the below Google Earth image…

There are no pull-thru sites, so I backed the Bronco in first and hitched back up to the motorhome so I’m ready to roll this morning…

Here’s the usual dinette window photo…

Lake Minden is a convenient place to spend the night when approaching Mary’s home from the north. I’ll continue my southerly journey later this morning. Google Earth is telling me I’ve got 113 miles to go until I arrive at Mary’s home at Murphys, California.

Last night I watched another old movie from the 1940’s. This time it was 1943 – Ox Bow with Henry Fonda. Another classic!

Thousand Trails RV Resort – Leavenworth, Washington

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort about 21 miles northwest of Leavenworth, Washington.

We took a day off from driving yesterday while we waited for an early cold and rainy windstorm to clear western Washington.

While waiting, we took a nice walk around the RV park. Here are some of the photos that I took…

Newport, Washington

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 35 miles from Sandpoint, Idaho to Newport, Washington.

We continued traveling along U.S.Highway 2 West.

The traffic continued light along Highway 2…

First thing yesterday morning we had a visitor. I took her silhouette photo…

Next we went to a local Mexican restaurant where we met up with Jim Davison and his wife Sharon. I’ve not seen Jim in over ten years when we were both members of the WIN RV Singles Group. Jim and i were part of a small caravan that spent six months during the winter of 2001-2002 in Baja California, Mexico. It was nice to see an old friend once again…

It was only about another 12 miles to Thousand Trails Little Diamond RV Resort where we spent the night…

It’s Been A Busy 58 Days…

since Mary left me to return to CA for two high school graduations, a family reunion and general business associated with her home and rental units. This time apart was part of our agreement when we got together approaching three years ago. She has left me several times…but this has been our longest separation since we’ve been together. I’ll meet her in Burlington this evening when she’ll arrive via the shuttle service from SeaTac Airport.

In the time she’s been gone…I’ve stayed plenty busy. I’m an ex-engineer and tend to do a lot of research before I undertake a project or commit to major financial expenditures. Here are some of the things that have kept me busy since Mary has been away…

Despite his working a 60 hour work-week at his place of employment in Monroe…I got my friend and cracker-jack mechanic Mike to put in 12 hours of preventative maintenance on my Ford Bronco II. I was his assistant and gofer. In this photo he is replacing brake pads and hoses as well as greasing the front wheel bearings…

Through friends of Mike I managed to meet a professional body man who put in 12 hours cleaning up the Bronco II very nicely…

I combined and upgraded Mary and my memberships in Thousand Trails RV Resorts into an elite Membership…

Upgraded our motorhome modem and router to Verizon 4G speed…

Bought a new Sony Digital camera…

Bought a new Sony Vaio computer…

Replaced a defective rear view camera on the motorhome…

And got video-interviewed by RVTravel.com…

So…I’ve not been bored while Mary was away. All of these above activities will hopefully contribute to a lot of many more enjoyable days and miles on the road!
