The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort at Monroe, Washington. I’ll depart here September 6th.
Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.
In 2011-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!</div?
So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.
As a holder of the New Mexico Annual Camping Permit (non-resident $225), I can stay up to three weeks in a park. If desired, electricity can be had for $4 a day. It’s a perfect place for me to be while I rest and recuperate from the May 27th accident. There are 38 parks in the system.
The locals tell me this is an unseasonably hot summer. So much so, if I have outside things to do I need to get them done by 10:00 AM, after which time I retreat to the comfort of the air conditioning of the motorhome.
At 6:30 AM yesterday I was out doing battery maintenance (cleaning and topping off water) on our four batteries, before the sun was too high in the sky.
I was feeling the best I have felt since the May 27th accident, so after breakfast I decided to go for a three-mile hike on the East Meadow Trail. With moderate hills, up and down, it had me sweating in the 10:00 AM, 80 degree morning sun. It felt really good to get out and get some exercise. However, it appears I over did it. While attempting to sleep last night…with every breath I took…the popping in my chest and associated pain was with me for six hours. The Internet says the popping is caused by trauma to the rib cage area. My popping now is more like thump-thump…breathing in and out…with associated mild burning pain.
As much as I thought I was doing fine…it appears the recovery process will require more time. The doctors indicated expected recovery time is 6-12 weeks. The accident happened five weeks ago today.
