The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Palm Springs RV Resort in Palm Desert, California. I’m scheduled to depart here December 23rd.
In yesterday’s blog posting about the veterans Christmas party in Indio, California…I posted the below photo. Commander Mike of the local VFW Post #3669 read to us the meaning of the items on the table which can be found in every VFW and American Legion Post across the nation.

The tables small, symbolizing the frailty of the prisoners, who are alone, against their captors.
Remember…
The tablecloth is white, symbolizing the purity of their intentions to respond to their country’s call to arms.
Remember…
The single red rose displayed in the vase symbolizes the families and loved ones who keep the faith, awaiting their return.
Remember…
The red, white, and blue ribbon tied around the vase is of the same that is displayed on the lapel, and breast of thousands who bear witness to their unyielding determinations to demand a prepare account of our missing.
Remember…
A slice of lemon is on the bread plate to remind us of their bitter fate.
Remember…
There is salt upon the bread plate symbolic of the families’ tears, as they wait word of their missing.
Remember…
The glass is inverted because the missing cannot toast with us.
Remember…
The chairs you see are empty because the missing cannot be with us.
Remember…
Remember, all of you that served with them and called them comrades, who depended upon their might and aid and relied upon them, for surely they have not forgotten you.
