Point Pleasant River Museum, West Virginia (GA493)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. I’ll depart here later this morning.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted May 17, 2013…

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the about 65 miles from Ashland, Kentucky to Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Most of the drive occurred on Ohio State Highway 7 that had very light traffic and for the most part ran alongside the Ohio River.

Point Pleasant, West Virginia

The motorhome is currently parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. My current departure date is scheduled for December 1st.

Note: Today is my cataract surgery day for my left eye. Mary and I will depart here at 8:00 AM and drive the 141 miles to the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California. No blog tomorrow. If all goes well, I’ll have a blog entry on Saturday.

During this time I’ll be attending to my cataract surgery, cleaning, routine maintenance and minor repairs to the motorhome and Bronco in addition to assisting Mary with her activities. None of these items are particularly exciting to write about…so…instead I’ll be showing Picasa Web Albums from our 682 day, 2011-2013 circumnavigation of the United States. It was Mary’s second circumnavigation and the sixth for myself.

Unless we do something unusual, this Blog will feature a photo album from the circumnavigation and will change daily. So come back tomorrow.

To read about today’s photo album location, click this link…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_Pleasant,_West_Virginia

The cataract surgery of my right eye was conducted on October 9th. It appears to have been successful and my last exam on October 24th had it at 20/25, down from 20/200 prior to the surgery. Surgery on my left eye is now scheduled for today.

Yesterday was a sunny day and 74 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 75 degrees.

Parkersburg, West Virginia

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the about 60 miles from Point Pleasant to Parkersburg, West Virginia. I began in West Virginia and ended in West Virginia, but because of the way the Ohio River zig-zags, most of the drive occurred on Ohio State Highway 7 that had very light traffic and ran alongside the Ohio River a good part of the way.

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Before leaving Point Pleasant we had some morning fog so I went outside to see what I could see…and this is what I saw…

014

We crossed back into Ohio over this pretty bridge as seen from a Wal-Mart parking lot…

016

Going across the bridge…

021

Along the way we passed through Pomeroy, Ohio with the Ohio River on the right…

On this bridge we crossed the Ohio River into Parkersburg, West Virginia…

Where we ended up at a very friendly VFW Post #1212…

Here’s the usual dinette window photo…

024

Getting up close to the dinette window and looking down I could see a small stream and told Mary we are parked on waterfront property! 🙂

028

Other than the excessive heat and humidity we enjoyed a nice stay.

We will move along later this morning.

Enjoying very friendly VFW Posts is another joy of the full-timing lifestyle!
