The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I may be here until March 4th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 243 miles from Scotrun to Clarion, Pennsylvania. 99.9% of the trip was on Interstate Highway 80. At about mile marker 111.0 we passed the highest elevation of Route 80 east of the Mississippi River at 2,250 feet. Clarion is at 1,475 feet. At 5:30 AM this morning it was a cool 49 degrees. Delightful!

The first hour of yesterday’s trip was in the rain. For the rest of the day it remained mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 73 degrees and humidity of 53%. Much more enjoyable weather than I have experienced for some time.

We will continue our westerly travels later this morning.

The motorhome is parked  at Outdoor World Campground in Scotrun, Pennsylvania. This campground is part of the Thousand Trails RV Resort system of which we are members, so we got to stay here for free.

We gassed up in eastern Pennsylvania for $3.40.0 credit card price. In Connecticut the credit card price was $4.09.9, a difference of $0,69 per gallon. In Connecticut the 40 gallons we bought would have cost us an additional $28.00 for the same amount of fuel!

We are in the Pocono Mountains of eastern Pennsylvania which are not very high. Our campground elevation is at about 1,100 feet, 5:30 AM temperature was 67 degrees with 83% humidity and light rain. Heavy rain forecasted for our travels today.

The motorhome is parked at American Legion Post #367 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. We will depart later this morning.

Yesterday was Spoil Mary Day. She indicted she was in bad need on art fix…so I drove the Bronco the about three miles to the Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley. You can read about this museum by clicking their official website link…

Then we drove the about six blocks to downtown. We parked across the street from the Pennsylvania Power & Light building where I worked for about three years…36 years ago. It was built from 1926 to 1928. It has 23 stories and is 322 feet high. It’s the tallest building in Allentown. In 1930, the PPL Building was named the “best example of a modern office building” by Encyclopedia Britannica and also featured the world’s fastest elevator…

One block down Hamilton Boulevard to The Brew Works so Mary could get her craft beer. She had a Porter which she proclaimed the best she has ever tasted. So good in fact…she had two. Here she gives the place a “two fingers up” rating….also an indication she was on her second beer…

084

And I was forced to give the place a “two fingers down” rating because…

*It was to dark in the place to read a menu…

*The print on the menu was too small…

*The place was too noisy…

*Every song played on the music system I had never heard before…

*They had no Miller Lite Beer which I drink, so was forced to drink iced tea…

The result was one happy old chick and one grumpy old man…  🙂

Here are some photos from the Brew Works. A great place to take photos because of lots of reflections…

From there we went to an authentic Jamaican restaurant to eat. Mary loved the place and I gave it a “two fingers down” rating because the chicken had lots of small bones in it and they had neither Miller Lite Beer or iced tea. Oh well, it was Mary’s day anyways and she had a good time.

Along the way we saw the children playing in the water fountains…

Yesterday was another scorcher and it’s supposed to be even hotter today at 91 and tomorrow at 92… with it really feeling to be 95 to 100 degrees. This is the sunrise taken at 5:30 AM…

The motorhome is parked at American Legion Post #367 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Uncertain of our plans at this moment…we may stay another day.

Yesterday morning, because our coach batteries were getting low, I turned on the motorhome engine to charge them. Shortly thereafter, the Check Engine Light came on…Grrr!

Have I ever told you the road of life is a dusty one?…

So, off we went to a local Workhorse Chassis repair shop…

004

Where they went to work on the problem. Three hours and slightly less than $300 we were on our way back to American Legion Post #367. Considering we’ve had the motorhome for almost four years and 25,000 miles…this is the first time it needed any attention. Not bad…

After parking the motorhome we took the Bronco and went to town, First stop was the apartment that I lived in 36 years ago. I lived in the lower unit…

005

I went back into my 1977 pictures file to pull this photo of me in front of my apartment half my lifetime ago. What a difference 36 years makes! Where have the years gone?…

Lebanon, Pennsylvania Day 4 (GA504)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. I’m planning to depart November 26th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted May 28, 2013…

We are parked at Thousand Trails Hershey RV Resort at Lebanon, Pennsylvania. We will move along later this morning.

Yesterday was sunny and 75 degrees…the first nice day we have had in a long time. More thunderstorms forecast for today.

Yesterday was also Memorial Day. In the activities schedule we received when we arrived, it said for yesterday…

10:00 AM – Memorial Day  Celebration at the Flag Pole (ranger station). The veterans Campbelltown VFW will be here to perform the Ceremony with a 21 gun salute, followed by our Parade, Golf Carts, Bicycles and Walkers. Sounds good we said to each other…let’s attend!

I returned from my walk at 9:15 and shortly thereafter heard three rounds of rifle fire…looked out the window and saw the seven vets saluting the flag. What the heck? Come to find out there was a communication gap between the vets and the park. They came early and had to move on for other obligations. At 10:00 AM we went to the ranger station and this is what we saw…

Assistant Manager Pam explained the communication problem, apologized for the mix-up and said we would have the remainder of the program anyways. She read a piece about the flag, we said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang My Country ‘Tis Of Thee…

After the ceremonies were complete, she asked if any of the veterans would like to speak. Four of us did…

When my turn, I thanked everyone for attending and for remembering the special meaning of the day. Then the parade started…

Due to our physical situations, we did not walk the parade route…

The remainder of our day involved reading, some computer time and napping. We hope you had a nice Memorial Day.
