The motorhome is parked in Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. I’m scheduled to depart here June 2nd.

 

 

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

  In 2011-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!

So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.

The motorhome is currently parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort in Monroe, Washington.

 

I’m been waiting for the last several days of rain storm to leave the area. It was chilly yesterday with the rain. High temperature was only 57 degrees. Today’s forecast is 56 degrees with some more rain. It’s supposed to clear up by tomorrow. I’m currently planning to leave here later this morning despite the rain.

The motorhome is still parked at VFW Post #4895. We are planning to depart later this morning and will be crossing into Kentucky.

 

 

Yesterday was a leisurely day. It was supposed to rain hard…but never did. We decided to visit the Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center. There once was a fort there…but no battle was fought there. The Confederates were thinly staffed and poorly trained. Believing they had not a chance against the expected superior Union forces…they walked away from the fort. When the Yankees arrived…they found white flags flying from the fort and the city surrendered without a shot being fired.

 

 

The Interpretive Center tells the story of what life was like in Clarksville, population 5,000, during the Civil War. A 15 minute film presents it from a woman’s point of view. You can read about the Interpretive Center by clicking their official website link…

On the left in the below photo you can see the river had been into the parking lots by the mud and snags stacked in a pile on the left just beyond the truck…
