Mission Accomplished!

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have almost 4,000 postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Palm Springs RV Resort in Palm Desert, California. I’ll depart here later this morning.

20 years ago today was December 23, 1995…the day I departed Olympia, Washington to begin my full-time RVing lifestyle. Today therefore marks the beginning of my 21st year.

At that time, my goal was to achieve 20 years of living on the road full-time. At that time, I decided I would no longer vote (being disgusted with choosing from the lesser of two evils), pay no more taxes other than vehicle registration and sales taxes (I paid plenty of income tax during my working years), and finally, never to pay another cent of interest. If I made it, after that, it would all be gravy.

Here I sit, 20 years later with all those goals achieved. I’m happy to report that after these 20 years I find myself happy and healthy.

Back in 1995, I was driving a Chevy Suburban and towing an 18 foot travel trailer. Here’s a photo taken while in Baja Sur, California, Mexico in 1998. The film was developed in Mexico hence the spotty photo…

In 1999 I bought a 1983, 23 foot Class A Suncrest Motorhome and a 1984 Ford Bronco II specifically to take to Central America. This photo was taken in 2004 during that 343 day, 16,000+ mile trip…

I met Mary in 2008 and in 2009 we acquired my current motorhome and Ford Bronco II…

The last 20 years have been delightful.  It’s been a lousy job…but someone had to do it!  🙂

What the future holds, we’ll just have to find out One Day At A Time! In the meantime…onward and enjoy the gravy!!!

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Yesterday was partly sunny and 68 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 71 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Olympia, Washington – Day 2

The motorhom3 is parked in the parking lot of Podiatrist Dr. Donald G. Hovancsek who kindly allowed me to park for two nights across the street from the VFW Post #318. I’ll depart here later this morning.

I’m expecting to arrive at Mary’s home in central California, October 15th. While there, I’ll do minor repairs and major cleaning of the Bronco and motorhome.

Yesterday, I visited more friends…

The first stop was at my long-time hairdresser Keri Kaufmann when I lived in Olympia a long time ago. I always stop in unannounced just to surprise her. This year she surprised me by not being there. She’s currently on vacation in Barcelona, Spain. This photo was taken in 2014…

Then to the studios of TCTV, Thurston County Community Television, where I visited my friend Deb Vinsel, Manager for the last 25 years. She proudly shows their new digital control room which was all torn apart for the remodel when I visited her last year. From 1992-95, I produced and hosted 95 programs on TCTV at their old location on Limited Lane…

DSC07484

Then an enjoyable late afternoon meal with my long-time friend Shawn Newman. Shawn is a full-time Attorney and also is currently teaching five evening classes at St. Martin’s College. He’s a very funny guy, also very knowledgeable and interesting. That’s for a great visit Shawn!

DSC07486

I missed seeing my good friend’s Larry and Jan Seaberg as they are currently visiting Germany…

DSC00481

It does my heart good to visit with old friends. That’s the major problem with growing older…they start to disappear in death.  I’ve lost several good friends in recent years.  😦

Then an enjoyable happy-hour visit with the friendly folks at VFW Post #318.

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Olympia, Washington – Day 1

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 85 miles from Monroe to Olympia, Washington. I’ll depart here tomorrow.

I’m expecting to arrive at Mary’s home in central California, October 15th. While there, I’ll do minor repairs and major cleaning of the Bronco and motorhome.

Part of yesterday’s drive going around Seattle was on Interstate Highway 405 where at 9:45 AM, was stop and go traffic…

I enjoyed a nice beer and pizza lunch with my ex-neighbor Ted Price. I lived here in Olympia from 1980-95 until I headed out on my full-time RVing life. Ted and his wife Judy were the best neighbor’s anyone could ask for…

After lunch, I went to Goodwill store searching for used books and movies. On the way back to the motorhome, I stumbled across something I’ve not seen before…a Goodwill Outlet Store…

Everything here is just thrown into large bins, not very convenient for finding anything…but one-half price from a regular Goodwill store…

Then an enjoyable happy-hour visit with the friendly folks at VFW Post #318. Today I visit with some more old friends.

Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort – Monroe, Washington

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 100 miles from Olympia to Monroe, Washington. The motorhome is now parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort along the bank of the Skykomish River. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. My scheduled departure date is July 8th.

Mary is at home tending to personal matters…home maintenance, family, friends, rentals, etc..  She has made her flight reservations to meet me July 29th in Bellingham, Washington.

I’ve marked the below Google Earth image in yellow to show my camping spot along the river. It is not a real-time image. This was taken the very end of March…in reality now the park is almost filled to capacity with RV’s…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
