The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I may be here until March 4th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted July 14, 2013…

The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m planning to depart later this morning.

Mary is back at  her home in California tending to some personal business. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 23rd.

Yesterday afternoon I went to another of my only grandson’s baseball tournament baseball games. He wears the #5 and aspires to be a major league catcher. Here are three action photos…

He had a great game. His team beat a team from New Jersey 6-1. He was part of an outstanding double play…pitcher to catcher to first base. He got to bat four times and got two doubles, a single and a walk. He batted in four of the six runs and scored once himself. Way to go, Eric!

Today I’ll head towards Massachusetts for about a three-week visit with cousins and friends.

I’m planning to return for a six-day visit on August 5th just prior to my departure to the west coast.

Enjoying visiting family is another joy of the full-timing lifestyle!

THE CURIOUS GARBAGE CAN

Its been cold at night here in Yuma, and we keep having to remind ourselves its JANUARY, the MIDDLE OF WINTER. Yesterday was a short sleeve day even at that. We are husbanding our megabytes; we can’t load a gob of pictures until our signal recycles;  Instead, I read a lovely book by Anne Rivers Siddons, entitled Up Island. It was a fun read for me since Jim and I visited Martha’s Vineyard last summer where this book was set. Loved it. And, loved the relaxation of spending a whole day curled up with a good book. We did take two walks around the neighborhood. Had to get to Auto Zone for some fuses. And,  I snapped this desert themed mail/paper box previously.

Also saw an unusual garbage can. Truly the largest garbage can I’ve ever seen. A curiosity.Maybe they empty once a month? Saves money.

And, where water is scarce, you dig a well in your yard.
Americans are innovative, aye?

IVORYTON, CONNECTICUT-MEET THE JAILLETS

We crossed the Connecticut River into a series of historic small towns to reach Ivoryton,  home of my partner’s family. The town name came from the major industry in the area,  a factory that imported and made ivory piano keys. Alas, plastic took over, but the crumbling  factory is still standing.

I may not have explained that my partner, Jim Jaillet, has lived full time in his RV for 15 years and seeing his son’s name on a mailbox,  gave him an emotional tug.

A quick hug with son Jim before he went off to coach little league.

Crowding two grand daughters, Jaimie and Joceylyn, and mom, Wendy into the motor home after school  proved to be a lot of fun.  Nine year old Jaimie tried on gobs of  beads we brought with us from Mardi Gras last February. Joceylyn, at age 15, likes poetry and math. A rare young person who KNOWS that she wants to be a teacher some day.

Jim has met my family and its nice to finally meet his family. We’ll have time to get to know each other over the next week. Its already evident we’ll be having a good time.
