The Adult Lodge…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort along the shore of Skagit Bay in LaConner, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. It’s my favorite resort in the entire Thousand Trails system. My departure date is July 29th.

Mary is at home tending to personal matters…home maintenance, family, friends, rentals, etc..  She has made her flight reservations to meet me July 29th in Bellingham, Washington.

The adult lodge here at Thousand Trails in LaConner is set on the southeast corner of the campground away from the bustle of activity. It’s a place controlled by a pass-lock where those over the age of 18 can find some peace and quiet and enjoy a game of shuffle board or horseshoes…

Lunch With A Friend In Anacortes, Washington…

Yesterday I had lunch with a delightful friend. I met Beverly Malland a number of years ago and we have remained friends over the years and distance of my travels. She has lived in Anacortes, Washington for lots of years…

After lunch I stopped for a cold beer at the Eagles Club which has been in this building since 1923. This is where Bev and I met. See the guy on the corner playing the banjo…that’s her father Rudy Malland…

DSC00924

Rudy Malland (1916-2002) was known in the area as The Banjo King and local lore has it that he wore out six banjos during his career…

The mural of Rudy Malland is one of more than 100 beautiful murals scattered all around Anacortes. You can read all about the artist and the murals by clicking this link… http://www.trailergypsies.com/Washington/Anacortes%20Mural%20Project.htm

Sunrise Over Skagit Bay…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort along the shore of Skagit Bay in LaConner, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. It’s my favorite resort in the entire Thousand Trails system. My departure date is July 29th.

Mary is at home tending to personal matters…home maintenance, family, friends, rentals, etc..  She has made her flight reservations to meet me July 29th in Bellingham, Washington.

Yesterday morning just at sunrise (5:30 AM), I walked across the narrow road in front of the motorhome and down a very short path to catch a few photos….

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

This campground is on land leased from the Swinomish Indian Tribe. The salmon pens can be seen in the distance in the light morning mist…

A broader view…

A closer view. In years past I’ve seen an eagle perched atop the tree in right center. I hope to see one again this year. Looking closely and you can see the light sun (rising behind me) on the top half of the trees

The Swinomish take salmon only during regulated times of the year. Hopefully I’ll be here when that happens…

A Look From Above Of My Current Location…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort along the shore of Skagit Bay in LaConner, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. It’s my favorite resort in the entire Thousand Trails system. My departure date is July 29th.

Mary is at home tending to personal matters…home maintenance, family, friends, rentals, etc..  She has made her flight reservations to meet me July 29th in Bellingham, Washington.

Here’s a different way to look at things thanks to Google Earth. The pin marks my location…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

In this first view the large body of water coming in from the left and the Pacific Ocean is the  Strait de Juan DeFuca. Highway 1 is in Canada. The San Juan Islands are high center…

1

A little closer view. Anacortes is about 12 miles away and where you can get on the ferry to the San Juan Islands and to Canada. The green triangle below Anacortes is Mount Erie…

2

Closer again shows my location on Skagit Bay…

3

And still closer. The rectangular shape that looks like a very large raft is the Swinomiish Indian Salmon farming pens…

4

Finally a photo I took several years ago from Mount Erie of Fidalgo Island…five miles to the northwest. At 1,273 feet it’s the highest elevation in the area…

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

Yesterday was a sunny day at 69 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 70 degrees. Perfect!

Thousand Trails RV Resort – La Conner, Washington

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 65 miles from Monroe to LaConner, Washington.

About one-half of the trip was on Interstate Highway 5. The below photo was taken in a lighter-traveled section of the highway…

On the back road heading to my destination, Mt. Baker could be seen in the distance…

This bridge crosses over the Swinomish Channel…

Just holding my camera high and to the right, I took a blind shot hoping to catch LaConner. Not a bad shot for being on the move…
