Yesterday I drove the motorhome 89 miles from Lacey to Monroe, Washington.

Back on May26th, I posted a blog entry about the changing RV lifestyle. Click the link if you missed it…

https://otrwjam.wordpress.com/2019/05/26/the-rving-life-is-changing/

During yeaterday’s drive I had another prime example. The traffic was horrendous!

The first 50 miles on Interstate 5 took me two full hours. Do the math… that’s an average of 25 miles per hour on a major Interstate Highway. The entire trip of 89 miles took a full three hours. That’s just under 30 miles an hour. I’ve been making this drive for more than 20 years… never have I seen this kind of traffic congestion!  😦

I found myself wondering …could this be the last time I make this particular drive????

Upon arrival I parked the motorhome at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort along the bank of the Skykomish River. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here.

I’ve marked the below Google Earth image in yellow to show my camping spot along the river. It is not a real-time image. This was taken the very end of March…in reality now the park is almost filled to capacity with RV’s…

2011-2013… Circumnavigation Of The USA…Final Update

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Cabela’s Sporting Goods in Lacey, Washington. I’ll depart here later this morning.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted October 11, 2013…

This final Blog posting is to document the completion of an almost two-year circumnavigation of the United States…my 6th…Mary’s 2nd. During these circumnavigations, I try to travel on roads I’ve not seen before…I’m about 90% successful in that regard.

The only things I knew about our potential destinations during this adventure is that I/we planned to spend a good portion of 2012 exploring the State of New Mexico. In 2013 we planned to attend my oldest grand-daughter’s high school graduation in June in southeastern Connecticut…which we did. Other than that…we just had to find out one-day-at-a-time where our fates were to send us. Other than our near fatal accident on Memorial Day of 2012, it was a fine trip. We saw many interesting things and meet some really neat people.

The trip began from Murphys, California on November 29, 2011 with 35,956.5 miles on the motorhome odometer. The trip ended on October 10, 2013 with 48,635.4 on the odometer which means I drove 12,678.9 miles with the motorhome. I also drove the Bronco about an additional 10,000 miles on side trips.

Our journey brought us to 28 states: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Texas,  Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana,  Idaho, Washington and Oregon.

In addition to showing the route taken, I’m documenting where I/we parked during this journey. I/We parked at 175 different places as follows:

37 – VFW
22 – State Parks
21 – Other/Miscellaneous
16 –  Moose Club
14 – American Legion
14 – RV Parks/Campground
13 –  Thousand Trails/Affiliated RV Resort
11 – Eagles Club
8 – Friend/Relative
6 – Elks Club
4 – Casino
4 – Museum Parking Lot
4 – National Park/Monument/Seashore
3 – Wal-Mart

Here’s the map showing the complete route taken which you may click on to see in a larger view…

Lacey, Washington – Day 2 (GA610)

Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
Sadly Mary is struggling with health issues. To see the latest about her situation, click here

I’m currently in my 24th year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked in Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. I’m scheduled to depart here June 2nd.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted October 4, 2013…

The motorhome is parked at American Legion Post #94 in Lacey, Washington. I’ll depart later this morning.

I lived in this area from 1980 – 1995. Yesterday I visited with some old friends.

I enjoy stopping in unannounced…you know sort of a surprise…just walk through the door and say hello…

First was Keri Kauffman who was my hair stylist for many years…

Sometimes they surprise me by not being where they are supposed to be. At Public Access Thurston County Television (from 1992 – 1995, I hosted 95 TV programs here), I stopped to see Deb Vinsel the manager there for many years. She wasn’t there because she had a doctor’s appointment and they were not quite sure of her return time. So I passed about one hour with Robert (center) and Vicki (right) whom I had not met before. They were intrigued with my lifestyle, Blog and YouTube Videos. If you would like to see my YouTube Videos, click this link… http://www.youtube.com/user/JimJ1579/videos

Susan Willis, (left) whom I knew back then came in about 10 minutes before I departed…

I had said my good-byes and actually reached my Bronco, when I heard HEY!!! It was Deb, so I got to chat with her for a few minutes…

Which made me late leaving for my lunch appointment with my ex-attorney and friend Shawn Newman. He was running on a tight schedule and combined with a mix-up on my part about the location of the restaurant where we were supposed to meet for lunch, I missed him by five minutes. I did not have his cell phone number, so back I went to the motorhome for lunch. Shawn and I chatted later in the day…see you next year!

Larry Seaberg stopped in at 1:00 PM. His wife Jan had other things to attend to…

At 2:30 PM, I drove the Bronco the about the two miles to visit with Jim and Joan Belluomini. They are now living in their 22 foot RoadTrek RV full-time and have been RVing since 1958…

It was nice to see my old friends all apparently well and doing well!

Yesterday’s high temperature was 58 degrees with partly cloudy/sunny skies. At 5:00 AM when I arose thus morning it was 40 degrees! Brrr! Time to put on some miles heading south!

Last night I watched another old movie from the 1930’s. This time it was 1932 – Tarzan, The Ape Man starring Johnny Weissmuller. Another classic!

Enjoying old friends is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 90 miles from Monroe to Lacey, Washington…in the down-pouring rain.

Interstate Highway 405 which bypasses Seattle is always crowded, but add some rain and it becomes a real bear…

South of Seattle, I drove Interstate Highway 5 in a heavy down-pour. The idiots never slow down and drive like madmen. It’s really dangerous, stressful and tiring driving. But, I managed to arrive safely at American Legion Post #94 in Lacey where they provided me with an electrical hookup so I could run my electric heater. High temperature yesterday was only 48 degrees with a real feel of 44. I’m back off of the road by about 300 feet, so it is nice and quiet…

I unhooked the Bronco and drove the two miles to the Hawks Prairie Restaurant and met my ex-neighbor Ted Price of 16 years and enjoyed a nice meal together. His wife Judy, didn’t make it as she was watching grand-kids. Ted is 77 and stays in real good shape by being active. One of his favorite chores is splitting firewood…

Being really tired from the drive I returned to the motorhome and took a nap. About 4:30 I had some visitors…

About 7:00 PM the sun poked out from under the cloud cover. I haven’t seen the sun in a week! It also appeared to be the end of the storm front…

A little while later I saw the flags over the roof-line of the American Legion Post in the evening twilight…

Today I’ll visit some other friends in the area. High temperature is forecast at 58 degrees and sunny. I’ll depart from here continuing south tomorrow morning.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 91 miles from Lacey to Monroe, Washington.

Upon arrival I parked the motorhome at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort along the bank of the Skykomish River. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here.
