Oregon City, Oregon To Chehalis, Washington

Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 100 miles from Oregon City, Oregon to Chehalis, Washington.

Prior to my departure I went out for my daily brisk mile walk and there was a Canadian Geese convention going on. During my walk I saw at least another 100 of them. They sure like this place…

The little ones sure are cute…

99% of the trip was on Interstate Highways 205 and 5. The traffic on 205 going around Portland, Oregon is usually quite heavy…

Upon arrival in Chehalis, I checked in to Thousand Trails RV Resort. I’ve stayed here a number of times over the years…

Upon arrival I parked at the very friendly Eagles Club #3284 in Woodburn, Oregon. I’ve parked here several times in the past.

Anderson To Nicolaus, California

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 123 miles from Anderson to Nicolaus, California.

I’m expecting to arrive at Mary’s home in Murphys, California, later today and depart November 30th. While there, I’ll do routine maintenance, minor repairs and major cleaning of the Bronco and motorhome.

Today’s Subject…Anderson to Nicolaus, California…

I started the day driving south on Interstate Highway 5…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

After about 20 miles I reached Red Bluff on got on California Highway 99 South. With slower speed limits and a lot less of 18 wheelers, it’s a lot less stressful and more pleasant drive through miles of fruit orchards. It goes through a number of small towns with an occasional traffic light…

DSC07238

On the two-lane portions, speed limits are typically 55 miles per hour…

With an occasional road repair…

DSC07240

On the four-lane portions, speed limits are typically 65 miles per hour. California State Law has a maximum of 55 miles per hour for all towing vehicles. Since I’m towing the Bronco, that means me…

DSC07241

Near my overnight parking location there are lots of walnut orchards…

I spent the night at Thousand Trails Lake Minden RV Resort of which Mary and I are members. The X marks my location in the below Google Earth image…

There are no pull-thru sites, so I backed the Bronco in first and hitched back up to the motorhome so I’m ready to roll this morning…

Here’s the usual dinette window photo…

Lake Minden is a convenient place to spend the night when approaching Mary’s home from the north. I’ll continue my southerly journey later this morning. Google Earth is telling me I’ve got 113 miles to go until I arrive at Mary’s home at Murphys, California.

Yesterday was 92 degrees! YUK! Normally I would not be this far south, this early in the fall season. On October 4th, Mary turned 75 years old and her family is having a 75th birthday party for her this Saturday…and I told her I would be there. So, here I am in this horrible heat which is supposed to break in the next couple of days. I’ll spend tonight at Nicolaus, California and arrive at Mary’s home later today.

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Yesterday was a sunny and 92 degrees. Forecast for destination today is sunny and 86 degrees.

Seaview To Monroe, Washington

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 208 miles from Seaview to Monroe, Washington. The motorhome is now parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort along the bank of the Skykomish River. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. My scheduled departure date is July 20th.

Mary is dealing with her over-flowing to-do list plate which can only be handled by herself. The construction of Mary’s rental continues along…slowly. She now is hoping to rejoin me by early September.  😦

I’ve marked the below Google Earth image in yellow to show my camping spot along the river. It is not a real-time image. This was taken the very end of March…in reality now the park is almost filled to capacity with RV’s…

Lacey, Washington – Day 1

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 90 miles from Monroe to Lacey, Washington…in the down-pouring rain.

Interstate Highway 405 which bypasses Seattle is always crowded, but add some rain and it becomes a real bear…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

DSC07122

South of Seattle, I drove Interstate Highway 5 in a heavy down-pour. The idiots never slow down and drive like madmen. It’s really dangerous, stressful and tiring driving. But, I managed to arrive safely at American Legion Post #94 in Lacey where they provided me with an electrical hookup so I could run my electric heater. High temperature yesterday was only 48 degrees with a real feel of 44. I’m back off of the road by about 300 feet, so it is nice and quiet…

DSC07127

Here’s the usual dinette window shot…

DSC07128

I unhooked the Bronco and drove the two miles to the Hawks Prairie Restaurant and met my ex-neighbor Ted Price of 16 years and enjoyed a nice meal together. His wife Judy, didn’t make it as she was watching grand-kids. Ted is 77 and stays in real good shape by being active. One of his favorite chores is splitting firewood…

DSC07123

Being really tired from the drive I returned to the motorhome and took a nap. About 4:30 I had some visitors…

DSC07135

About 7:00 PM the sun poked out from under the cloud cover. I haven’t seen the sun in a week! It also appeared to be the end of the storm front…

DSC07147

A little while later I saw the flags over the roof-line of the American Legion Post in the evening twilight…

DSC07149

Today I’ll visit some other friends in the area. High temperature is forecast at 58 degrees and sunny. I’ll depart from here continuing south tomorrow morning.

Last night I watched another old movie from the 1930’s. This time it was 1931- Little Caesar starring Edward G. Robinson. Another classic!

Enjoying friendly American Legion Posts is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!
