The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV resort in Palm Desert, California. I’m scheduled to depart here March 19th.

 

 

 

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

  In 2011-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!

So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the about 85 miles from Iron Mountain, Michigan to Hurley, Wisconsin.

 

 

We continued traveling along U.S.Highway 2 West. Because this is a very thinly populated area, the traffic was very light…

Arriving in Hurley, Wisconsin, we parked at VFW Post #1580. The place was closed and no one showed up during our stay…

Yesterday was another horrendous weather day…94 degrees with high humidity. Another scorcher is forecast for today.. 86 degrees with a real feel of 95. At 5:00 AM this morning it was 68 degrees with 76% humidity. Good temperature…lousy humidity. YUK!

 

 

We’ll continue our westward travel later this morning.

Ashland, Wisconsin

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the about 40 miles from  Hurley to Ashland, Wisconsin.

We continued traveling along U.S.Highway 2 West.

A Hurley, Wisconsin sunrise…

We decided to take a Lake Superior waterfront RV site at the Kreher RV Park in Ashland, Wisconsin where we are parked about 100 feet from the lake shore…

The city has a number of murals…

Ashland once had a large ore dock…

Which has recently been demolished and all that is left is the remains of the pier…

At 2:00 PM, a violent thunderstorm erupted with winds in excess of 60 miles an hour. It blew really hard for a half-hour…

Here’s what the radar looked like during the storm. Ashland is in the darkest red…

This photo looks at our RV park from the water. Our motorhome is the furthest on the right partially hidden by the playground equipment…

The final photo of the day occurred at 8:15 PM overlooking Lake Superior…

Yesterday was another horrendous weather day…86 degrees with a real feel of 95 and high humidity. After the storm blew through, the temperature dropped to a delightful 70 degrees with 72% humidity.

At 5:00 AM this morning it was 72 degrees with 82% humidity. Good temperature…lousy humidity! YUK!

We’ll continue our westward travel later this morning.
