Hovenweep National Monument – Colorado (GA135)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Mount Vernon RV Resort at Bow, Washington. I’ll depart here August 2nd..

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

In 2011-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!

So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.

Hovenweep National Monument – Utah/Colorado

The motorhome is now parked at the Paradise Casino in Winterhaven, California right across the Colorado River from Yuma, Arizona. We’re here with others…hanging out and enjoying the nice weather. We will leave here later this morning..

Yesterday was a sunny day at 67 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 65 degrees.

A more relaxed mode..

After our 682 day on-the-go 2011-2013 circumnavigation of the United States, we have decided to slip into a more relaxed mode. In the next few months we will be traveling through areas previously explored. Unless we do something unusual, this Blog will feature a photo album from the circumnavigation and will change daily.

A note about today’s photo album…

I shot these photos using the watercolor mode on my camera. The intent is to make them look like watercolor paintings. It’s a neat effect.

As we prepare to depart this morning I have a couple of leftover photos. The first one was shot at the full extension of my camera’s zoom ability so he was several miles away…

This last photo is a western view of a sunrise. In other words the rising morning sun is at my back and reflecting off of the clouds above St. Thomas Indian Mission…

Hovenweep National Monument, Colorado

Yesterday we left the motorhome at the American Legion Post #75 in Cortez, Colorado and I drove our Ford Bronco II the almost 100 mile circuitous loop to Hovenweep National Monument.

Here’s the official government website link…
http://www.nps.gov/hove/index.htm

and a Wikipedia informational link…

In today’s photographs you will notice something new. I shot everything in an illustration mode…it creates the illusion that the pictures were drawn by an illustrator of a magazine…prior to the invention of the camera. I really like the illusion, as in my eyes, it makes everything look pre-historic. It’s a little creative photography…done inside of the camera!

We managed to walk the two-mile rim trail of Little Ruin Canyon…slowly…as I’m still experiencing the pains of the tragic accident eleven days ago.

Here are some photos that I took…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

In other news…

Yesterday and last night my chest pains started returning. Guess I’ve been doing too much, too fast after the tragic accident. Easy to do when you hang around with Mary.  🙂
