Yesterday I drove the motorhome 113 miles from Nicolaus to Murphys, California. I’m now at Mary’s home and am scheduled to depart September 29th. While here, I’ll do routine maintenance to both vehicles.

Today’s Subject…Nicolaus to Murphys, California…

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 127 miles from Nicolaus to Anderson, California.

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Most of yesterday’s travel was on U.S. Highway 99 which passes through miles of fruit orchards…much better than the alternate of Interstate Highway 5…

Approaching Anderson I spotted Mount Shasta 65 miles away. I grabbed my camera and manged to get this neat shot even though I was driving…

Arriving at Anderson, California I parked at the rear of very friendly VFW Post#9650 for the night. I’ve been stopping here for several years. They even provided me with a 30 amp electrical hookup so I could run my air conditioner to deal with the 93 degree temperature. Many thanks for another enjoyable stay…

And here’s the usual dinette window photo…

Outside it was 93 in the shade and 99.5 in the sun. It was a comfortable 78 degrees inside the motorhome thanks to my a/c.

I’ll depart later this morning.

The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I may be here until March 4th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted August 22, 2013…

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 57 miles north from Menominee to Bark River, Michigan. We are here visiting Mary’s long-time friend Bernice. We expect to depart here on Sunday.

When we arrived yesterday it was 108 degrees in the sun with 52% humidity!  YUK!!!

Bernice has 400 acres with a home a mile down a dirt road off of the county paved road…

About 8:00 PM last evening we had a heavy-duty thunderstorm with lightning which lasted about 1/2 hour. After it was over, this was the sky looking east…

And this was the sky looking west…

After the storm the temperature had dropped to 68 degrees…very refreshing after the heat of the day. This morning at 6;30 AM it was 64 degrees with 96% humidity! YUK once again!

Ivoryton, Connecticut Day 17 (GA529)

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Palm Desert, California. I’ll depart from here December 19th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted June 25, 2013…

The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th visiting with my family.

Mary is back at  her home in California readying for a family reunion. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 16th.

Last Saturday my 12-year-old grand-daughter, shortstop for the Essex Angels, participated in a local home run derby. The rules are simple…in 10 swings of the bat…hit the ball as far as you can. The fence is 200 feet away and none of these girls have the power to hit the ball that far. So a number of the coaches are on the field with metal stakes with flags to mark the furthest distance when the ball hits the ground. Jaime won first place with a distance of 152 feet!

Congratulations Jaime, Well done!

In other news…

The first oppressive heat and humidity of the Summer season arrived yesterday. My new weather station recorded the outside temperature at 94 degrees and inside the motorhome at 96 degrees…with 88% humidity. I could stand it no more! I fired up the air-conditioning and went to the local Vet’s Hall for a couple of cool beers. 1.5 hours later when I returned it was 79 degrees. Mucho bettero!

More of the same on tap for today. The Weather Wimp…that’s what Mary calls me says…YUK, YUK,  AND YUK! Here’s today’s forecast…

The motorhome is parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. I’m planning to depart November 26th.

The motorhome is parked at American Legion Post #367 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. We will depart later this morning.

Yesterday was Spoil Mary Day. She indicted she was in bad need on art fix…so I drove the Bronco the about three miles to the Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley. You can read about this museum by clicking their official website link…

Then we drove the about six blocks to downtown. We parked across the street from the Pennsylvania Power & Light building where I worked for about three years…36 years ago. It was built from 1926 to 1928. It has 23 stories and is 322 feet high. It’s the tallest building in Allentown. In 1930, the PPL Building was named the “best example of a modern office building” by Encyclopedia Britannica and also featured the world’s fastest elevator…

081

One block down Hamilton Boulevard to The Brew Works so Mary could get her craft beer. She had a Porter which she proclaimed the best she has ever tasted. So good in fact…she had two. Here she gives the place a “two fingers up” rating….also an indication she was on her second beer…

084

And I was forced to give the place a “two fingers down” rating because…

*It was to dark in the place to read a menu…

*The print on the menu was too small…

*The place was too noisy…

*Every song played on the music system I had never heard before…

*They had no Miller Lite Beer which I drink, so was forced to drink iced tea…

The result was one happy old chick and one grumpy old man…  🙂

Here are some photos from the Brew Works. A great place to take photos because of lots of reflections…

From there we went to an authentic Jamaican restaurant to eat. Mary loved the place and I gave it a “two fingers down” rating because the chicken had lots of small bones in it and they had neither Miller Lite Beer or iced tea. Oh well, it was Mary’s day anyways and she had a good time.

Along the way we saw the children playing in the water fountains…

093

Yesterday was another scorcher and it’s supposed to be even hotter today at 91 and tomorrow at 92… with it really feeling to be 95 to 100 degrees. This is the sunrise taken at 5:30 AM…

And we are still more than three weeks away from the official start of Summer!

Like yesterday, I hereby declare YUK, YUK and YUK for the current weather!

Enjoying interesting and air-conditioned museums is another joy of the full-timing lifestyle!

PREPARING FOR WINTER IN OREGON.

img_0413-copy I spent a week in Oregon to get ready for winter. A storage building matches the house my son, Doug, built for me. It was full of leftover building materials, necessary tools and “stuff”. It is small but useful except it was boiling hot at the end of the day and freezing in the morning. You couldn’t work in it with any comfort.  First, I had a trench dug from the house to the building for electricity and water. Over that a new driveway put in.

img_0409-copyPaisley, helped her grandfather rake out the gravel. Grandfather Frank is driving the equipment in the background.

img_0410-copyThe rake is a bit heavy, but helping grandpa is important.

img_0405-copyFrank emptied everything out of the shed and with a special machine, hoisted the sheet rock up to the ceiling with a helper.

img_0407-copyEverything inside got put outside.

img_0408-copyI brought home stuff no longer needed to donate to Habitat for Humanity. Then the rains came, a day earlier than predicted. We were able to quickly get things under plastic and protected.  I didn’t get a picture.

img_0416-copyWe put some stuff back in the building. It is still raining, and no more work has been done on the storage building.  My next project is a car port for my van. Then, I’ll be finished with my place in Oregon. I mapped out the spot to put the car port, but I’m told I have to be there. Another trip is set for the last week of October-early November. Then I’ll snuggle in and work on my genealogy and quilts during the cold months of winter.

I know my storage building is pretty boring stuff, but from Oregon I hope to do some road traveling in my van if I ever get my projects in Murphys completed.

Ciao
