Palm Desert To San Bernardino, California

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,500+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

Yesterday I drove the 68 miles from Palm Desert to San Bernardino, California.
With the exception of about 3 miles, the entire trip was on Interstate Highway 10. In my humble opinion, one of the most dangerous highways in the United States. I really do not like driving on it, but in this part of the world there are no viable options. Very crowded, many 18 wheelers and everyone driving to damn fast!
I took the below photo shortly after getting underway…

About 30 minutes later I was going through San Gregorio Pass and encountered lots of very dark clouds, some rain and very strong headwinds. Not your typical southern California weather.
I finally arrived at Eagles Club #506 in San Bernardino where for $15 a night, I have electricity to run my electric heater. They have a small RV park here with about 12 spaces. Several appear to be living here full-time…
As always, I like to show my dinette window photo…
The purpose of my visit in this area is to get new high density foam for my two bottom dinette cushions. My motorhome was built in Riverside just a few miles south of here. The original upholstery was done by Neff’s Upholstery in Riverside. They are really busy on a large commercial contract and could not handle my request. Instead, they gave me the name of their supplier from whom I’m obtaining the foam.
The foam I desire had to be ordered, so the job will not be finished until later today. I’ll leave here tomorrow morning.
I really do not like driving in this areas’ heavy-duty traffic and will be glad to be on my way.
In addition, I cannot remember ever being in a place where there are so many homeless people living on the sidewalks. Not a really pleasant place to be.
A bright spot, I found an acquaintance of many years. John Claremont is 90 years old and still RVing full-time! He’s in the area for a hip replacement in a few days and once healed intends to get back at it! I told him that I’ve long aspired to the first 100 year-old full-timing RVer. But for the shape John is in at 90, I may ended being the second! Keep on chugging, John!

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Forecast for today’s destination is mostly cloudy and 59 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Enjoying 65-75 degree temperatures with low humidity most of the year is a primary joy in the RVing lifestyle!
