Heron Lake State Park – New Mexico Day 66 (GA220)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,500+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Palm Springs RV Resort in Palm Desert, California. I expect to depart here December 20th.

The motorhome is still parked at Heron Lake State Park about 20 miles south of Chama, New Mexico.

I’ve been here for several weeks now and have photographed everything worth seeing within a 30 mile radius. I’m still not feeling that well that I care to drive lots of miles in search of photographs. The doctors told rest should be my #1 function.

Lake Heron has an amazing number of widely varied sunrises, sunsets and cloud formations. I’ve got some really neat photos to share. I’ve already taken them and will portion them out over the next couple of weeks.

I decided to shoot the last full moon of the summer which set about 45 minutes ago. I needed to do it now as the next moon set will occur at about 6:30 AM which will be too much daylight. I set my tripod on the dinette table. The last seven photos were shot at the full zoom capacity of 60x or equivalent of a 1500 mm lens. When shooting at this zoom the camera is using both optical and digital zoom features and some of the sharpness is lost. Still pretty remarkable pics for a one lens, point and shoot camera…

Full Moon Glow…

The motorhome is parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California.

I’m planning to  depart November 30th. While here, I’ll do routine maintenance, minor repairs and major cleaning of the Bronco and motorhome.

Today’s subject: Full Moon Glow…

Last evening at 7:15 PM, I looked to the east and saw a full Moon rising over the low hills through a light cloud haze. I wasn’t  able to capture the haze effect, but I got this rather neat photo of the old Moon. Not at all a bad photo considering it was shot hand-held with a point-and-shoot camera…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Up at 2 AM, Mary’s yard was full of a beautiful Moon glow. In the following three photos, I set the camera on night scene, then on a stable footing. Once again, not bad photos considering all.

The beautiful Moon glow along with an absolute quietness, makes it an idyllic, serene setting. A delightful experience away from all the noise of the World.  🙂

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Yesterday was a mostly sunny and 81 degrees. Forecast for today is mostly sunny and 78 degrees.

Smallest Full Moon Of 2014 Over Yuma, Arizona

The motorhome is now parked at the Paradise Casino in Winterhaven, California right across the Colorado River from Yuma, Arizona. I’m here with others…hanging out and enjoying the nice weather.

Mary is tending to business at home. She has made her flight reservations to rejoin me on January 28th.

Bark River, Michigan – Day 2

The motorhome is parked in the yard of Mary’s old friend, Bernice, at Bark River, Michigan. We expect to depart here on Sunday.

A few days back I mentioned problems I was having with the electrical connection between the Bronco and the motorhome. While Mary, Bernice and her sister Marie went off in search of memories, I changed out the male portion of the electrical connection attached on the Bronco. With the help of Mark, Bernice’s son, it took us three hours to do this job…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

The electrical connection is under the spring-loaded cover…

011

I’m planning to change out the female portion of the electrical connection on the umbilical cord today.

About 4:00 PM yesterday I went out to check the temperature. When we arrived the day before yesterday it was 108 degrees. Yesterday it was only 98 degrees. Where’s my long underwear?  🙂

012

While out to check the temperature, I found Mark cleaning the garage…

014

Just then, the ladies were returning from their memory search, so I got this photo of them…

018

Who’s driving that tractor???

020

It’s Mary!!!…

021

She’s decided she wants to be a Tractor Model…

022

I’ve mentioned in the past about how great our cameras are at practically taking photos in the dark. Here’s a photo taken under a full moon about midnight last night…

004

And here’s the sky at 6:30 AM this morning with a temperature of 50 degrees and 96% humidity…

BLOGGING OR SLOGGING?

Sunrises and sunsets are often easily visible when you live in a motor home. I’m delighted that we get to see them so often, but the full moon rising over the mountain top is a rarer sight. Jim spotted it and we watched it until dark.

Jim is still slogging through his cold, but wouldn’t you know, our little portable heater quit and the weather is decidedly cooler. He insisted we had to go out and find another. We did, but just getting out and about exhausted him and he slept for an hour when we got home. The common cold can sure put  dent in your day.

I managed to walk a mile around the complex, but I always wonder about blogging on a day when we do nothing, which isn’t often. Sam Valaap from Highland Computers loaded Vista on my new machine since I couldn’t tolerate Microsoft 7. Terrific guy, very talented. I managed to test almost everything but burning DVD’s and the web cam. Guess we’ll stick close to home again today, try out the machine and feel useful. Jim’s feeling much better this morning. We have to be well for Saturday Night when we’ll see George Jones’s show.

One last shot of the moon. Its come into its own in this shot and is shining from above
