Military Appreciation Day – Yuma, Arizona

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at the Paradise Casino in Yuma, Arizona. I was expecting to leave here recently, but I’ve changed my mind. I currently have reservations at Thousand Trails in Palm Desert, California, February 13th. Between now and then???? For the moment I remain in Yuma.

I just love the ability to change plans at a moments notice. As I tell everyone…All my plans are firmly etched in Jello!

Today’s subject: Military Appreciation Day…

Yesterday was Military Appreciation Day here in Yuma, Arizona. The following blog posting is from when I attended that event in 2015. The location this year was in a different location but essentially the same as 2015. The booths are associated with providing different services to all veterans…

Yuma has strong military ties which you can read about by clicking this link…http://www.visityuma.com/military.html

About three blocks of Main Street was shut off for vendors  and display booths. I enjoyed about one hour there talking to a number of other veterans.

On my way there I stopped atop St. Thomas Indian Mission Hill (see below sunset) and took a 180 degree panorama looking north. 1 is the motorhome parking location. 2 is the Colorado River. 3 is the Guardhouse at the Yuma Territorial Prison…

Since I’ve been coming to the Yuma area for a number of years during the Winter, I’ve explored the area pretty thoroughly. Rather than re-visit each place again, I’ve decided to show photos I’ve taken in the past. All these places are within about a one-hour drive from Yuma.

This blog was first published in January, 2015…

Yesterday I took a morning walk along the southeastern shore of the Colorado River at Yuma, Arizona. On the way there I took a photo while waiting for the red light to change to green. The walk went from below the bridges about 1/2 mile along the right side of the river shore to the bend in the river…
