Albuquerque, New Mexico Day 3 (GA266)

Mary remains at home in California tending to medical issues.

The motorhomes is still parked at the Sandia Casino about 10 miles north of Albuquerque. I plan to move to another section of Albuquerque this morning.

Yesterday was a routine business day, I drove the Bronco the about 10 miles into Albuquerque to get a new prescription medicine for my occasionally returning sinus infection at the VA Hospital, refurbished my reading supply at the only good used book store I’ve been able to find in New Mexico, lunch at VFW Post #401, a stop at Wells Fargo Bank, a brief stop at Wal-Mart for nasal spray and the last stop was at a UPS Store to ship Mary’s shaman stick to her.

It’s a clumsy awkward device that has been in my way since she bought it more than four months ago and she’s happy I finally found a way to get it to her in California. Here’s the Blog entry link that describes the hilarious event. Don’t miss it…

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the about 50 miles from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The motorhome is now parked at the Sandia Casino about 10 miles north of Albuquerque. I usually do not park at casinos, but I’ve met up with some friends who are here.

I was in Albuquerque for about three weeks earlier this past spring. There are somethings that can only be found in Albuquerque in New Mexico such as a Costco, a Workhorse Chassis Dealer for the motorhome and the only good used book store in the state. I expect to be in the area for a few days.

There are better than 100 RV’s parked here because of the annual balloon fiesta. Here are some views from the parking lot…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

I always like to show the view from the dinette window. My friend Randy’s trailer is on the left and his friend Laurie’s is on the right…

Stepping outside on the passenger side you can see the casino in the background…

A 180 degree panorama of that side…

A view to the rear shows the Sandia Mountains in the background…

The balloon fiesta headquarters are a few miles south of the casino and since the fiesta ends today, they had some fireworks last night to celebrate the ending. My camera has a fireworks setting but I’m still so new to my camera I couldn’t remember how to find it, so I shot the following photos in the night setting. In addition you should really use a tripod for fireworks but I was too lazy to get it out. These photos are hand-held. This is the first time I’ve shot fireworks with my new camera…

An Unexpected Meeting…

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
My RVing lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Oceana RV Resort in Ocean City, Washington. I’ll be here until July 2nd.

In 2009, Ned Bedinger bought my last motorhome…the one I owned for ten years and that went to Central America. Ned lives in South Port, Washington. Expecting to be in his area in about a month, I called his home a few days ago only to be told by his wife that he was in Ocean Shores, Washington…just three miles down the road from my current location.

A couple of phone calls later Ned and I agreed to meet for breakfast at a casino where he spent several nights with his motorhome. We spent a couple of hours reminiscing about the past. He informed me that my last motorhome met its demise in Santa Cruz, California, the victim of a fuel-leak fire. It wasn’t totally destroyed, so they managed to salvage their possessions. Shortly thereafter they bought a replacement as seen in the below photo…

Bellagio Hotel And Casino – Las Vegas, Nevada

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. My scheduled departure date is Friday, February 13th.

Mary continues to be overwhelmed with personal business. I am now not expecting to see her again until I arrive at her home in Murphys, California about the third week in April. It’s just the way things are and we just have to deal with it.

I’ve come to Las Vegas, Nevada several times over the years and have quite thoroughly explored the area. Rather than go back to these various places and re-create the wheel, (unless I do something different and unusual) I’m electing to republish some of my earlier blog entries.

This blog entry was originally published February 9, 2011…

Bellagio Hotel And casino – Las Vegas, Nevada

Yesterday afternoon Mary and I spent two hours wandering around the Bellagio Hotel and Casino at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo. It’s one of the largest and most elegant of all the buildings in Las Vegas.

Here are some photos I took while there…

Blue Lake, California

Mary is traveling with her 14-year-old grandson on a trip to Turkey. I expect her to catch up with me sometime in mid-May somewhere in Oregon.

Yesterday I drove the 138 miles from Redding to Blue Lake, California. The entire drive was on California Highway 299, a road I had not driven before. I crossed the Klamath Mountains with lots of up and down, curvy and winding roads. I also passed through the Shasta-Trinity and Six Rivers National Forests. Several summits, the highest being 3,213 feet. The trip took four hours and passed through a number of small mountain villages. I parked overnight at the Blue Lake Casino. A nice and quiet night’s sleep.

Here are some of the photos I took yesterday…

After three days in the mid-90’s, Yesterday I drove west to a point only about six miles from the Pacific Ocean. The effect was wonderful! It was a partly cloudy/sunny day with a high temperature of 65 degrees. Today’s forecast is partly cloudy and 60 degrees. A bit cool, but delightful compared to the mid-90’s!

A Morning Walk Along The Once-Mighty Colorado River

The motorhome is now parked at the Paradise Casino in Winterhaven, California. I’m here with my friend Randy Vining and others. Randy and I have come to this area during the winter for many years.

Mary is now expecting to rejoin me here in late January.

Less than 1/2 mile away is a very famous place of history in the southwestern United States…Yuma Crossing. If you are not familiar with this history, you can read all about it by clicking this link… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuma_Crossing

Yesterday morning Randy and I took his truck and drove across the Colorado River to take a walk south along the river on the California side. Here are some of the photos that I took…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
