My New U.S. Navy Veteran Motorhome License Plate…

The motorhome is now parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort along the bank of the Skykomish River in Monroe, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. My scheduled departure date is September 16th.

I’m just hanging out taking maximum advantage of my Thousand Trails membership and very agreeable weather.

Mary’s personal to-do list plate, which can only be handled by herself, continues to over-flow. Recently we acknowledged that her meeting up with me in September, just is not going to happen.   😦

I’ll next likely see her when I arrive at her home in November. A friend recently expressed a concern about the status of our relationship. Not to worry…it continues to function per our original agreement when we met in October, 2008. That is…I remain on the road and she will join me when her other life allows. We talk every day on the phone…sometimes more than once. It’s just the way life is!

My new U.S. Navy Veteran license plate for the motorhome arrived two days ago…

I served as a radar man on the USS Boston CAG-1, the world’s first heavy guided missile cruiser, from 1959 to 1962. The below photo was taken at Amsterdam, Holland in 1960. What a difference 55 years make!  🙂

Happy Memorial Day From Seaside, Oregon

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Seaside RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. My current scheduled departure date is June 4th.

Mary returned from her trip to Turkey on May 5th. She now finds herself awash in personal matters…home maintenance, family, friends, rentals, etc.. After a long discussion we have agreed she will now meet me July 26th in Bellingham, Washington. When we met in 2008 we both knew that she might run into situations like this and agreed that she would travel with me on a part-time basis. She has thanked me for not pressuring her to return at an earlier date. We all have to do, what we have to do in this world.

Happy Memorial Day!

If you are not familiar with it, you can read all about the history of Memorial Day by clicking this Wikipedia link… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Day

Today we pause to remember our Veterans. I’ll be attending a memorial service at American Legion Post #99 here in Seaside, Oregon at 11:00 AM. What will you be doing today to remember our veterans? I am proud to have served our country.

Yesterday while on YouTube I accidentally came across this short video of my old ship USS Boston – CAG-1, the World’s first heavy guided missile cruiser. I served aboard her from 1959-1962 as a Radarman…

Here’s the only photo I still have from my Navy days taken at Amsterdam, Holland in 1960…

This photo of me was taken November 9, 2013. What a difference 54 years make… 🙂 I’m glad I’m still around to have my photo taken…many of our vets are not…

In honor of those veterans no longer with us, here’s a video about the history of TAPS…

Ivoryton, Connecticut – Day 5

The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th.

Mary has been in Las Vegas, Nevada for her grandson’s high school graduation for the last several days. She returned to her home in Murphys, California yesterday.

For the short while I’ve been here, I’ve seen not a whole lot of my family as they are all so busy with their lives. Oh well, I’ll catch them as I can.

If you are a regular follower of my Blog, you’ll remember a few months back I became a life member on the Veterans Of Foreign Wars…aka VFW. I’ve found the guys like to wear hats identifying where they served…so I thought I would follow suit…

Here’s my new hat…

There’s a nice Veterans Hall only a couple of miles from my son’s home which I visited last Sunday. I plan on going there regularly while here.

Enjoying visiting with my fellow veterans is another joy of the full-timing lifestyle!
