The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I may be here until March 4th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted July 11, 2013…

The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 14th visiting with my family.

Mary is back at  her home in California tending to some personal business. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 23rd.

In recent days, I have introduced to you the Village of Essex less than five miles from my son’s home. In those entries I’ve started showing images taken at the Connecticut River Museum located in Essex.

At 407 miles, it’s the longest river in New England. Starting at the New Hampshire/Canada border it flows into Long Island Sound. You can read all about the Connecticut River by clicking this Wikipedia link…

The museum has three floors. Floors one and two have permanent exhibits. Floor three has changing exhibits…currently it’s about bridges over the Connecticut River. In the past three days, I showed photos of some of those bridges. Today is the final day of those photos…

A Late Afternoon Walk Across The Colorado River At Yuma, Arizona

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.

The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres Mobile Home and RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I expect to be here a while hiding out from the cold, wet weather. Average temperatures in January are high 69.6, low 47.6. In February, high 73.8, low 50.1. As nice as Yuma is, I wouldn’t want to be here in August.  🙂

Since I’ve been coming to the Yuma area for a number of years during the Winter, I’ve explored the area pretty thoroughly. Rather than re-visit each place again, I’ve decided to show photos I’ve taken in the past.

Today’s location is about 1.5 miles from my current parking location. I took these photos in 2014.
The below photos start on the Winterhaven, California side, cross the river looking north onto the Yuma side. Then I cross the river once again, looking south and return to the Winterhaven side…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

A Late Afternoon Walk Across the Colorado River At Yuma, Arizona

The motorhome is now parked at the Paradise Casino in Winterhaven, California right across the Colorado River from Yuma, Arizona. I’m here with others…hanging out and enjoying the nice weather.

Mary is spending the holidays with her family and is now expecting to rejoin me here in late January.

A Morning Walk Along The Once-Mighty Colorado River

The motorhome is now parked at the Paradise Casino in Winterhaven, California. I’m here with my friend Randy Vining and others. Randy and I have come to this area during the winter for many years.

Mary is now expecting to rejoin me here in late January.

Less than 1/2 mile away is a very famous place of history in the southwestern United States…Yuma Crossing. If you are not familiar with this history, you can read all about it by clicking this link… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuma_Crossing

Yesterday morning Randy and I took his truck and drove across the Colorado River to take a walk south along the river on the California side. Here are some of the photos that I took…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Once a mile wide this once mighty river has been tamed by man. Interstate Highway 8 passes overhead…

DSC08017

Lots of tall brush along the river provides a living place for lots of homeless people…

DSC08020

We got invited into a camp of a 36-year-old man, his wife and small dog…

DSC08021

They have a waterfront location…

DSC08022

A homeless man crosses an irrigation canal…

DSC08023

A deserted house…

DSC08024

Someone still living here…

DSC08025

Heading back north we could see old Fort Yuma on the hill in Arizona…

DSC08026

The first bridge is part of the original Coast-to-Coast Highway. The rear bridge is for the railroad. Just past the bridges on the right is the location of the old Yuma Territorial Prison…

DSC08031

Another view of the bridges…

DSC08033

The original bridge looking towards Arizona on the other side is one-way controlled by traffic lights…

DSC08034

A short distance later looking to the right you can see part of the parking lot of the Paradise Casino. Randy’s RV is #1 and mine is #2…
