A Boston Red Sox Showcase Day… (GA526)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Palm Desert, California. I’ll depart from here December 19th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted June 21, 2013…

The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th visiting with my family.

Mary has finally returned to her home in California. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 16th.

Last Monday was an interesting day. My only grandson Eric, his mom and myself drove about 30 minutes to American Legion Post Palmer Field in Middleton, Connecticut…

Red Sox Showcase 061713 001

The reason for the trip was that only at the age of 15, Eric was invited to participate in a showcase for the Boston Red Sox professional baseball team. If you are a regular follower of my Blog, you’ll remember on several occasions I’ve mentioned that Eric aspires to be a catcher in the major leagues.

The purpose of a showcase is to allow the team…in this case the Boston Red Sox…to preview upcoming talent. In other words to get on their radar screen. Now that they know of Eric, he was told they would monitor his baseball schedule and at any given time a scout may be sitting in the stands watching his performance. If they like what they see…they will be in touch!

Here are some of the photos I took there…

After this point, his dad (my son) who could not be present because he was away on a business trip, had asked me to capture lots of video (which I did) so that he and Eric could evaluate his performances at a later time. So, no more photos.

At age 15, Eric was in the youngest age group present and did an admirable job. Way to go, Eric and good luck in your future baseball efforts!

My Grandson Seeks A Role In College Baseball…

The motorhome is currently parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. During the next two months I’ll be attending to my cataract surgery, cleaning, routine maintenance and minor repairs to the motorhome and Bronco in addition to assisting Mary with her activities. My current departure date is scheduled for December 1st.

My only grandson Eric aspires to be a major league baseball catcher. The next logical step in his progression is college baseball. Which college is the next question needing to be answered.

Yesterday my son sent me an email telling of Eric’s recruitment video which he recently created. He used some of my photos and video from our 2013 visit to Connecticut in the early part of the recruitment video. In these videos, Eric is wearing uniform #5.

At the young age of recently-turned 17, Eric has already worked out with Boston Red Sox scouts on four different occasions.

If you know of anyone associated with the selection process in college baseball…please advise them of this video adding that Eric’s contact information is at the end of the video.

In the below photo, Eric visited us in our motorhome during the summer of 2013 when he was still 15 years old…

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEO.

With regards to my upcoming cataract surgery..my pre-op exam and consultation is set for today at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California…surgery is scheduled for October 9th.

Yesterday was a cloudy/sunny/rainy day and 67 degrees. Forecast for today is cloudy/sunny and 76 degrees.

My Grandson Eric And The Boston Red Sox…

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort along the bank of the Skykomish River in Monroe, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. My scheduled departure date is July 8th.

Mary is at home tending to personal matters…home maintenance, family, friends, rentals, etc..  She has made her flight reservations to meet me July 29th in Bellingham, Washington.

Today is a Grandpa bragging rights day. My only Grandson is 16 and aspires to be a major league baseball catcher. Last year at this time, I was back in Connecticut where he lives. At the age of only 15 last June, 2013, Eric was one of thirty young men in New England invited to participate in a showcase for the Boston Red Sox where they get to show their baseball skills.

Here are some photos I took of Eric last summer as well as a Boston Red Sox Logo…

To read the Blog entry that I posted about Eric’s 2013 Red Sox Showcase which I attended, just click this link…http://wp.me/pDCku-8vr

In addition…to the showcase last summer he was invited to two private workouts with the Red Sox.

The reason I’m bragging today is yesterday Eric called me to tell me, at now age 16, that he participated in another Red Sox Showcase last Monday. The purpose of a showcase is to put upcoming talent on the Boston Red Sox radar to monitor them as they progress increasing their skills. It’s a good sign when a player continues to be invited to these showcases.

Way to go, Eric…keep up the good work!

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

Yesterday was a cloudy/sunny day at 79 degrees. Forecast for today is cloudy with showers around and 73 degrees.
