The motorhome is currently parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. My current departure date is scheduled December 1st.
I’M STILL ADJUSTING to my new-found vision. I still cannot believe how sharp and colorful the world is. For instance I can now enjoy a beautiful silhouette of a leaf in an evening sky…
And the beautiful intricacies of a leaf during the day…
The cataract surgeries on my right and left eyes a short time ago has been a real eye-opening experience…pun intended. Other than my vasectomy back in 1971, they are the first true surgeries of my life.
I have always believed…if it isn’t broke…don’t fix it. In other words…no surgery until its time.
Eyes are a different story. I did not start using reading glasses until about age 52. I never realized that my vision was a slowly degrading process. I always thought of it as just another indicator of growing old. I’ve come to see (I’m full of puns today) that’s not true about vision. If you need glasses of any kind…it may be the indicator of the beginning of cataracts. Do not do as I did…get an eye examination now. This next image is from WebMD and shows hows a cataract forms in the eye…

The thing that surprised me the most about cataracts was how quickly I was on my way to BLINDNESS! At the VA Hospital in Seattle, Washington in October 2013, I was told I had cataracts and should attend to them “within a year or so”. One year later (last month) an eye exam revealed my right eye at 20/200 and left eye at 20/100…approaching BLINDNESS!
A simple and painless operation has now restored my vision at age 73 to 20/20 in both eyes! I can see like a teenager again!

Don’t do as I did…pay attention to your eyes and see like a teenager again!
