Thousand Trails Birch Bay RV Resort – Blaine, Washington

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 60 miles from La Conner to Blaine, Washington. The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Birch Bay RV Resort. We are here for a two-week stay. This location marks the furthest northern point for the motorhome during our planned 2014 travels. A mere four miles from the Canadian Border. In the below Google Earth image, X marks our location and BI represents Bellingham International Airport 17 miles to the south where I met Mary yesterday afternoon…

Mary was hungry when we arrived so we went to Via Bistro & Cafe right on Birch Bay for a nice meal…

The restaurant had lots of nice nautical paintings…

It was low tide when I took this photo for a small concrete dock right in front of our table. At high tide the waters return to my standing spot…

Skagit Bay Presunrise #4

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort along the shore of Skagit Bay in LaConner, Washington. I’ve been here a number of times over the past years and always enjoy it here. It’s my favorite resort in the entire Thousand Trails system. After a nice three-week stay, I’ll depart later this morning.

Mary has been at home tending to personal matters…home maintenance, family, friends, rentals, etc.. I’ll meet her at the airport in Bellingham, Washington later this afternoon.

I’ve gotten lazy in my retirement. Usually only after publishing my daily blog, attending to my email, have breakfast…attend to my morning toilet and other miscellaneous items…do I head out to do my photography…during the worst time of the day for good results…under the harsh light of mid-day.

The other day though…I got off my lazy butt and got out early. I was in position where I wanted to be and shot during the precious 15 minutes before the sun came over the horizon.

Take the time to absorb and inhale the beautiful pastel colors in the below photos. They were shot in the Watercolor Mode of my camera and lasted only a few moments before they were gone…

In this mode the colors are enhanced and remind me of vintage color postcards like those of 100 years ago. I like them and hope you do…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
