I’m currently in my 24th year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I may be here until March 4th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted August 4, 2013…

The motorhome is parked at my cousin Bob’s and his wife Donna’s home at North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Yesterday was a finally decent day. With a light cloud cover the high temperature was 72 degrees with 69% humidity. Still too humid for my liking.

Yesterday Bob, Donna, Mary and I drove the about five miles to New Bedford, Massachusetts to attend the 99th Annual Feast Of The Blessed Sacrament aka Portuguese Festival. We attended this event during our 2010 visit to this area and Mary enjoyed it so much, she insisted that we do it again. So we did! Here are some of the photos that I took…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

First thing, we headed for the barbecue area where lots of folks were already at it…

001

Then Donna and Mary started on ours. The skewers are about seven feet long…

003

011

This monkey watched in amusement as Donna and Mary worked…

012

013

014

Finally, they are done and show off their handiwork…

015

Now over to the barbecue area…

020

021

To get the fixings off of the hot skewer, my cousin Bob inserted it on to a stainless steel V and pulled…

026

While Mary collected the fixings into containers…

027

Here’s my portion…

030

Time to eat…

031

This 19-year-old Portuguese girl serves up $8 (each cup $4) worth of Budweiser beer…

033

Mary prefers the dark craft beers. She calls my Miller lite that I drink “horse piss”. This photo captures her with her “horse piss”…

035

Donna and her sexy sunglasses…

036

Some feast goers wear traditional hats. Medeira is an island off of the coast of Portugal where many of the early New Bedford fishermen came from…

039

A very young Portuguese girl…

042

044

Another style of hat…

045

We shared this spicy bean dish…

Mary telling me how much fun she is having…

060

061

After our meal we wandered around a bit. None of us rode the rides…

I wandered through a nearby museum…

087

Savannah, Tennessee Day 2 (GA477)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. I’m scheduled to depart October 17th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted May 1, 2013…

The motorhome is parked at Moose Lodge #1918 in Savannah, Tennessee. We expect to move on later this morning.

Yesterday I drove the Bronco the about two miles to downtown Savannah. Our first stop of the day was at the Tennessee River Museum. You can read all about this museum by clicking their official website link…
http://www.tennesseerivermuseum.org/

The museum presents the river’s history from the beginning of time. Being a photographer, I particularly enjoyed the old black and white photos of the riverboats. Most museums simply show the photos…this museum actually tells you about the photograph you are viewing.

Here are some of the photos I took yesterday…

The art gallery was closed, so we decided to cross the street again and check out the Hardin County Courthouse. It has a beautiful marble circular staircase. If you are a regular follower of my Blog, you know I love to photograph these things capturing patterns, forms, shapes, shadows, etc…

This first photo is of the bridge we crossed over with the motorhome on U.S. Highway 64. The river is currently very high at about flood stage and is expected to crest in the next couple of days flooding low-lying roads…

No Annual Eagles Salmon BBQ This Year – :( – Anacortes, Washington

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 21st year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in La Connor, Washington. I’ll depart here August 30th. I’ve been here a number of times in past years.

I’ll be hanging out in this general area until about the beginning of October, taking maximum advantage of my Thousand Trails membership and very agreeable weather.

(Note: I’m currently a little discombobulated right now. My normal mode is to blog what I experienced yesterday. Right now, I’m a number of blogs behind my experiences. I expect to be back in my normal mode in about a month.)

Today’s subject…

It’s the third weekend of August and USUALLY that means it’s time for the annual Eagles Salmon BBQ in Anacortes, Washington. But, not this year!  😦

I’ve attended this event a number of times in past years and every year look forward to this wonderful culinary treat! Sadly, this year a sign on the wall is indicating due to the unusual high price of salmon this year, the event was cancelled. Locals tell me this year has been a very poor salmon season. So, instead of enjoying the delicious salmon BBQ this year, I can only fondly remember last year and hope it will return next year.

To read last year’s posting of this event, click this link…

If you didn’t bother to click the link to see last year’s event, the below two photos show what I’m missing this weekend…

Eagles Club BBQ Fundraiser – Anacortes, Washington

The motorhome is parked the Thousand Trails RV Resort located in La Conner, Washington. I’ve been here several times in past years. My membership allows a maximum of a three-week stay, out for one-week and then you can return to the first park. My departure date is September 2nd.

I’m just hanging out taking maximum advantage of my Thousand Trails membership and very agreeable weather.

Mary’s personal to-do list plate, which can only be handled by herself, continues to over-flow. Recently we acknowledged that her meeting up with me in September, just is not going to happen.   😦

I’ll next likely see her when I arrive at her home in November. A friend recently expressed a concern about the status of our relationship. Not to worry…it continues to function per our original agreement when we met in October, 2008. That is…I remain on the road and she will join me when her other life allows. We talk every day on the phone…sometimes more than once. It’s just the way life is!

It’s the third weekend in August and that means it’s time for the annual BBQ fundraiser in Anacortes, Washington…only 12 miles from the campground. Here are some photos I took in 2014 when Mary was with me. Yesterday I went alone, but the salmon was just as good as the several times that I’ve attended this function in past years…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Eagles Club BBQ Fundraiser – Anacortes, Washington

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort at La Conner, Washington where I recently spent three weeks. Our departure from here is scheduled for August 19th.

Yesterday Mary and I went to Anacortes, Washington about 12 miles distant. Among the things we did was to attend the Eagles Club BBQ Fundraiser. We had some great salmon. Here are a few of the photos that I took…

The Eagles Club has been there since 1923. The BBQ Fundraiser is held the third weekend of August. The people are so friendly here that I elected to move my membership to this club.

Recently I had a telephone conversation with the VA Hospital at Palo Alto California regarding my cataract surgery. Pre-operation examination and consultation is set for September 29th…surgery on October 9th.

Yesterday was a cloudy/sunny at 68 degrees. Forecast for today is cloudy/sunny and 69 degrees.

Portuguese Feast – New Bedford, Massachusetts – Day 2

Jim says:

Weather-wise, yesterday was the nicest day we’ve experienced in quite a while…maybe since we arrived in New England just before Memorial Day. Partly cloudy, 77 degrees, relatively low humidity and a gentle breeze…a most pleasant day!

We arrived at 4:30 PM. First activity of the day was the carne de espeto…meat on a spit…a community BBQ…kinda sorta.

Here’s cousin Bob, a Portuguese Feast veteran of 50 years with his skewer ready to go…

Picture

Here’s Mary turning our skewer…
