Yesterday, I drove the 232 miles from Manteca to Bakersfield, California with no problems. Lots of traffic, 18-wheelers and idiotic drivers! That plus the numerous rough and beat-up patches of roadway made for a tiring and tense drive.

Arriving in Bakersfield I parked at Moose Club #2178. I have parked here on my way south for a number of years. A nice 30 amp electric hookup here allows me to have an extra enjoyable stay.

Normally I only stay one night, but since I have the time and temperatures are a little on the warm side, this time I’ll stay for two nights and rest after the tiring drive.

It’s a very active and friendly club and I always enjoy a great Taco Tuesday. Large and tasty taco salad for only $3. I’ll enjoy the salad and some nice conversation this afternoon like I always do here.

Murphys To Bakersfield, California

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 245 miles from Murphys to Bakersfield, California.

I departed Mary’s home in Murphys, CA yesterday morning shortly after 8:00 AM. The temperature was only 46 degrees…

After 2 hours and 75 miles later,, I finally got on U.S. Highway 99 at Merced which I traveled another 214 miles and arrived in Bakersfield, CA. I’m parked at Moose Lodge #2178 where it’s relatively quiet and I have an electrical hookup. It was also Taco Tuesday evening at the Moose Lodge where I enjoyed a HUGE AND DELICIOUS taco salad for only $3…  🙂

Along the way, my installs worked just fine. My tire pressure monitoring system…

And my smartphone which fit very nicely into driver’s side cup holder. I used the GPS system which was very accurate on my GPS assisted drive…

At elevation 408 feet in elevation here in Bakersfield, CA, it’s only a little bit warmer than Murphys, CA. It was 70 degrees when I arrived late afternoon yesterday and it was 50 degrees when I awoke at 5:00 AM this morning. Fortunately with an electrical hookup I can use my electric heater to keep warm. The motorhome has a gas furnace but it’s not terribly efficient and just gobbles the expensive propane gas.

I’ll head out once again later this morning.

I hope you enjoyed the photos!

Forecast for today is sunny and 76 degrees.
