Yesterday I drove the motorhome 127 miles from Nicolaus to Anderson, California.

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Most of yesterday’s travel was on U.S. Highway 99 which passes through miles of fruit orchards…much better than the alternate of Interstate Highway 5…

Approaching Anderson I spotted Mount Shasta 65 miles away. I grabbed my camera and manged to get this neat shot even though I was driving…

Arriving at Anderson, California I parked at the rear of very friendly VFW Post#9650 for the night. I’ve been stopping here for several years. They even provided me with a 30 amp electrical hookup so I could run my air conditioner to deal with the 85 degree temperature. Many thanks for another enjoyable stay…

And here’s the usual dinette window photo…

Outside it was 85 in the shade and 94.2 in the sun. It was a comfortable 78 degrees inside the motorhome as I watch the Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 5-4.

I’ll depart later this morning.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 123 miles from Anderson to Nicolaus, California.

I started the day driving south on Interstate Highway 5…

After about 20 miles I reached Red Bluff on got on California Highway 99 South. With slower speed limits and a lot less of 18 wheelers, it’s a lot less stressful and more pleasant drive through miles of fruit orchards. It goes through a number of small towns with an occasional traffic light…

On the two-lane portions, speed limits are typically 55 miles per hour…

On the four-lane portions, speed limits are typically 65 miles per hour. California State Law has a maximum of 55 miles per hour for all towing vehicles. Since I’m towing the Bronco, that means me…

Near my overnight parking location there are lots of walnut orchards…

Lake Minden is a convenient place to spend the night when approaching Mary’s home from the north. I’ll continue my southerly journey November 12th. Google Earth is telling me I’ve got 113 miles to go until I arrive at Mary’s home at Murphys, California.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 198 miles from Wimer, Oregon to Anderson California.

I spent the last eight days parked at Mary’s rental property. It is under contract to be sold and is scheduled to close by Thanksgiving. During this time, Mary, myself and a local gal by the name of Susan whom Mary hired had been really busy getting rid of the furnishings and doing cleaning.

The house is now empty and clean…

I’ll depart here later this morning.

I’m expecting to arrive at Mary’s home in central California around November 9th. I’ll depart November 27th. While there, I’ll do routine maintenance, minor repairs and major cleaning of the Bronco and motorhome.

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Lake Shastina – Weed, California

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 22nd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

Yesterday I drove the motorhome 85 miles from Anderson to Weed, California.

Along the way I passed by Lake Shasta. I cannot ever remember seeing the water level so high. The drought is over…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

A few more miles up the road Mount Shasta is looking good…

I proceeded thru Weed, California (population about 3,000). About five more miles and I parked at a free campground along the shore of Lake Shastina. It’s my first time here…

Here’s the usual dinette window photo…

And here’s a 180 degree view from the top of my motorhome…

Here are some other photos I took. Note the building on the top of the hill…

Here’s a better view…

And the trees in the lake…

And the hammock between the trees…

About 6PM…

5:15 this morning with a light rain…

Only about five miles from Interstate Highway 5, it proved to be a very quiet and peaceful stay.

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

Yesterday was cloudy and 78 degrees. Forecast for today’s expected destination is cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and 75 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

Five Years Ago Today We Survived A Terrible Accident…

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.

The motorhome is parked at VFW Post #9650 in Anderson, California. I’ll be here until May 30th.

Five years ago today, Memorial Day was on May 27, 2012. A day I would prefer not to remember…

This first photo shows the scene of the accident in the very remote corner of northeast Arizona on the Navajo Indian Reservation at Canyon de Chelly National Monument. It took rescuers more than an hour to dig all people trapped under the truck. Because of the remoteness of the area, it was more than three hours before the arrival of the first rescue helicopters…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

DSC07201

I took this second photo while trapped under the truck. A body can be seen caught between the seats. Because of the shock impact of the landing and dirt, my camera lens is only partially open. It stopped working completely shortly thereafter. The floor of the truck is now over my head…

DSC07193

If you are not familiar with the details regarding the accident, you can read all about it by clicking this link… http://wp.me/pDCku-4HZ

Five years later we are still dealing with the after-effects. In my case, I continue having a constant, mild burning in my right rib age area. It does not go away…it’s there to remind me every day.

Originally we thought that I was the more injured of Mary and myself. But time has proven that Mary was more injured than myself. Since the accident she has been seeing a myriad of doctors for a variety of issues. We are now uncertain how many of her ailments are from the accident or just plain old age.  🙂

I’m not one to live in the past, but this accident was a very emotional, physical, mental and psychological trauma event. One person died at the scene and several others were severely and critically injured. It’s a happening not easily forgotten.

Yesterday was sunny and 81 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 90 degrees.

Enjoying nice weather is another joy in the life of a full-time RVer!

The red dot on the below map shows my approximate location in the State of California. You may double left-click the map to make it larger…
