Ivoryton, Connecticut Day 1 (GA515)

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 5,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
I’m currently in my 23rd year of full-time RVing and my lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. I’m planning to depart November 27th.

Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.

This entry was posted June 8, 2013…

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the about 80 miles from Danbury to Ivoryton, Connecticut. The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th.

Mary is in Las Vegas, Nevada for her grandson’s high school graduation. Today’s forecast is for 113 degrees! WOW! The forecast for the remainder of June is all days in excess of 100 degrees! I’m glad I’m not there!

Yesterday’s drive was in a VERY HEAVY DOWN-POURING OF RAIN thanks to Tropical Storm Andrea. I’ve put a red dot at my approximate location…

The drive began on Interstate Highway 84. Hard to believe the heavy rainfall didn’t keep idiot drivers from their 75-80 miles per hour speeds. It was so dangerous I decided to leave the Interstate Highway and complete the rest of the drive on back roads. It was three times as slow…but ten times safer…

The only downside to this strategy was the route signs were poorly marked and I got temporarily “lost” a few times…but I finally made it to my son’s home. The 80 mile drive took me three hours. Normally upon arrival at a location I show a couple of photos of my new location. Because of the very heavy rainfall, all you will see today is the usual dinette window photo…

The basketball backboard and hoop are new since my last time here three years ago. I figure the back board will help protect the window. I hope I’m right!  🙂 More photos tomorrow.

Enjoying visiting with family is another joy of the full-timing lifestyle!
