The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in La Conner, Washington. I’ll depart here September 13th.
Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.
In 2011-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!</div?
So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.
The motorhome is still parked here at Heron Lake State Park about 20 miles south of Chama, New Mexico while I am recovering from my May 27th accident.
My right ribcage area remains slightly swollen and tender to the touch. I’m pleased to report some progress…with the exceptions of a cough or a sneeze, the poppings, with the associated pains, in my chest have finally stopped! I remain taking Ibuprofen, icing my ribcage area 2-3 times a day and wearing an elastic bandage abound my chest. The doctors told me to expect 6-12 weeks for recovery. The accident occurred six weeks and five days ago. Can you tell I’m ready for the recovery to be finished?
The locals tell me July through September is monsoon season here in New Mexico. June was hot and dry. About a week ago we started getting rain sporadically, but certainly nothing I’d call a monsoon. Typically it will start to cloud up in the mid-afternoon…

Rather quickly dark ominous clouds appear and then the rain starts to fall, usually in large heavy raindrops. Still nothing I’d call a monsoon. That all changed last night at about 7:30 PM, when we had a real gully-washer! It rained HARD for about 1.5 hours, the wind rocked the motorhome and there where a number of nearby lightning strikes…
While not the worst thunder and lightning storm I’ve ever experienced (that was back in Pennsylvania in the mid-1970’s when I thought the World was ending!), it still was impressive!
This area really needs the rain as everything is tinder-dry. The rain here usually means lower temperatures, yeah!, and the air has a nice and clean smell and taste. So long as the storms do not pelt the motorhome with baseball-sized hail…let it rain!
