The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Thunderbird RV Resort at Monroe, Washington. I’ll depart here tomorrow.
Since my RVing life is changing (see above), I’m starting to re-visit previously visited places. So rather than constantly re-blogging past entries, I’ve decided to do something different.
In 2011-2013, Mary and I did a 682 day, 12,679 miles in the motorhome and 8,000 miles in the Bronco, circumnavigation of the United States, which I called The Great Adventure. I called it so because other than my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation in June in Connecticut, I didn’t know where we would be going or when we would be there!</div?
So, unless I do something really different and unusual warranting a new blog entry, I’ll be posting entries from that trip.
As a holder of the New Mexico Annual Camping Permit (non-resident $225), I can stay up to three weeks in a park which I am currently doing here at Heron Lake.
I still need more rest and recuperation from my May 27th accident. My right ribcage area remains slightly swollen and tender to the touch. I’m still experiencing the occasional popping in my chest with the associated mild burning pain. I remain taking Ibuprofen, icing my ribcage area 2-3 times a day and wearing an elastic bandage abound my chest. The doctors told me to expect 6-12 weeks for recovery. The accident occurred six weeks ago yesterday.
I’ve been here almost three weeks and have pretty much visited all areas of Heron Lake for photography purposes. So I moved over to adjacent El Vado Lake. Here’s a Google image the show the relative locations. The pin shows my campsite location at Heron Lake. El Vado Lake is to the lower left.

Yesterday I showed photos on the North Lake Boat Launch area. Today I drive down the El Vado Lake Peninsula…the three mile-long finger of land starting from the top of the lake. The peninsula gives the lake a “V” shape. I took enough photos to call today’s blog entry…El Vado Lake Peninsula – Day 1. Once again…take notice how drastically low the lake is due to a several year-long drought…
