More Astoria, Oregon

Mary is no longer available for RV traveling, but we remain good friends.
Because we have 4,000+ postings, I’ve invited her to continue posting entries on this blog.
My RVing lifestyle is changing, For more info click Here

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Seaside, Oregon. I’ve been here several times before. I plan to depart from here June 15th. I’ll slow my pace and spend the rest of the Summer in the State of Washington.

I’ll be re-publishing past blog entries located within a hour’s drive from my location here in Seaside. This one was last posted June 12, 2009..

Mary and I went to Astoria, Oregon once again yesterday. Among the things we saw/did were…

*Visit the site of Fort Astoria where the first permanent settlement west of the Mississippi River was established in 1811…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…

Fort Astoria…all that remains is this plaque and a small park…

* We also toured the Victorian Style home of George Flavel, one of Astoria’s most prominent citizens in 1884 when he passed away. The Flavel House…

* Last we visited the Heritage Museum which nicely presented the city’s rich and colorful history.
This early 1900’s bar is in the Heritage Museum…

To learn more about the Flavel Home and Heritage Museum, go to the Clatsop County Historical Society’s website at:

Finally…here’s a different sign than I usually see! Unless you live on the low-lying coast of Oregon, you probably don’t have this sign in your town/city…
